Introducing Rural Voices

We have started a new section in the Scottish Rural Action website called Rural Voices and we are inviting everyone with an opinion, a case study, a challenge or a soapbox to consider contributing to it. You can submit a one-off article or contribute on a regular basis. Think of it as a shared blog where the many voices of rural Scotland can have their say. Find out more about Rural Voices and how to share your voice here!

Rural Voices Articles

Our first two contributed articles to Rural Voices can now be read on the website.  Roland Chaplain explores what declaring a Climate Emergency should really mean, while Lorna Young explores what recent research can tell us about the value of the rural economy and invites us to consider Re-valuing Rural Scotland. Both of this week’s contributors are from the south of Scotland – we’d love to have some Rural Voices contributions from across our country. Want to have your say? Send us your article on info@sra.scot.

SRA National Stakeholders Event

We are organising a Discussion & Debate Day on 27th September for national organisations who have an interest in rural issues. The goal of the event is to examine the issues currently facing rural Scotland to see whether a coordinated rural platform would be helpful.  Click here to book your place. For more information about this event email info@sra.scot.

Speaking of events, we also have a brand new Events page on the SRA website. This is a curated events list and our goal is to identify and share events that have wide appeal to organisations and communities across rural Scotland. Currently listed are details of several conferences on housing, the rural economy and some workshops. If you would like your event listed please send details to info@sra.scot.
