ArthrexTV Live InternalBrace Broadcast & Lab

The ArthrexTV Live InternalBrace broadcast was a success at Pinnacle, with six HCPs in attendance. After the broadcast, a wet lab was hosted by Pinnacle Hand & Wrist Manager Greg Finn with several stations and a showcase/demo area for NanoScope and metal products. It was a friendly and collaborative environment that boosted confidence in InternalBrace and educated HCPs on niche indications.

The broadcast itself featured live demonstrations and presentations by Dr. Shin and Dr. Garcia. Dr. Shin has been in the news recently for performing a Thumb UCL on New Orleans Saints Quarterback Drew Brees with great results.

Highlights Included:
  • 6 HCPs total attended, including one first assist.
  • Nano demo station and wet lab.
  • Sparked interest in journal clubs between practices and affiliations, with talk of a possible combined Surgeons Choice & Henry Ford journal club.
  • This event marked the first interaction with Pinnacle of the chief of hand surgery at Henry Ford.
  • Interactive Q&A with Dr. Shin and Dr. Garcia.

Intermediate Trauma Training Summary

Nick Krasity of Team Detroit/Macomb attended Intermediate Trauma Training in Naples and summarizes some of the important takeaways below:

DEX = Trauma: The DEX/Trauma bucket is projected to surpass Shoulder within two years and hit $1 billion within five years. We are now considered trauma reps.

The largest current "trauma" opportunity is Clavicle: Clavicle will be part of our bucket going forward. Clavicle presents an important opportunity for us to build relationships with the majority of our physicians who take trauma call. Now is the time to start covering these cases, since Arthrex plans to roll out a line of heavy trauma products within 2-3 years. This is an opportunity to gain experience away from foot/ankle and hand/wrist in order to work with doctors who actually take trauma call. If we build these relationships now, they can lead to ArthroFX and distal tibia cases. Optimizing these relationships now will create an easier transition when Arthrex releases more innovative trauma products in the future.

Equally as important and as relevant as our clavicle opportunity, Fibertape Cerclage will be a very important product that every surgeon, especially trauma-related, should know about.

Currently in our "trauma" bag: Besides our clavicle set and Fibertape Cerclage, ArthroFX and our distal tibia system will be crucial in building these relationships.

Trauma call-schedules and expectations: I would strongly recommend building relationships now with anyone who does fracture management in your territory who we have the ability to cover, Primarily clavicle, as these are typically docs who take trauma call.

Botsford Journal Club at Pinnacle

Mike Fiteny of Team Oakland/Beaumont organized a journal club for Botsford residents and Drs. Fritz and Colen. It was hosted at Pinnacle and included journal article discussions, product demonstrations and a wet lab session.
