BTC STUDY: WILD BOTANICALS 

Our collaboration with the Belgian Technical Cooperation (BTC) is not new, but the intensity and scope of the work has changed significantly. NEW CLIENT, NEW PRODUCTS

ProFound recently started working with the German Import Promotion Desk (IPD). In a joint CBI-IPD project, we analysed the potential of 8 products in the European market, including fresh fruits and natural ingredients. In the form of product factsheets, we covered aspects such as requirements, trends and competition for the following products: pomegranate, mango, avocado, cherimoya, coconut water, palm sugar, cloves and nutmeg).

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE IN CBI'S COUNTRY PROGRAMMES

During the first half of 2014, ProFound provided assistance to CBI in different phases of its Country Programmes in the Palestinian Territories and in South Africa. 

In the Palestinian Territories, ProFound conducted an in-depth Value Chain Analysis (VCA) together with Klaus Dürbeck Consulting. During the fact-finding mission in January 2014, the experts focused specifically on the sector’s export potential, the bottlenecks in specific natural ingredient chains, and CBI’s ability to solve them in a sustainable manner. Read more...

NATURAL INGREDIENTS AND SME DEVELOPMENT IN AFGHANISTAN

From 7-9 May 2014, ProFound organised and conducted a strategic Stakeholder Conference in Abu Dhabi: ‘Natural Ingredients for Food & SME Development in Afghanistan’. The Conference was organised in close collaboration with representatives of CBI and UNITAR, as well as with other relevant Afghan stakeholders from a previous natural ingredients project. Read more...

SUPPORTING HONEY ENTREPRENEURS IN ETHIOPIA 

The Ethiopian honey sector is thriving. In 2011, the ASPIRE programme in which ProFound takes active part, counted 16 honey and beeswax processors. By now, in 2014, we are working with 26 members of the Ethiopian exporters association. Many businessmen and women recognise the opportunities in this sector. ProFound supports these entrepreneurs to develop their businesses by providing essential services: market analysis, analyses of capacities and strategic planning. In June 2014, we delivered services to individual entrepreneurs in a series of face-to-face counselling sessions in Ethiopia. Read more...
