Express CIC
Annette’s youngest son was diagnosed autistic at 15 months old and ADHD at 9, he is now 16 and attends an autism specialist provision where he is thriving with the right support. Tracey’s brother is autistic with severe learning disabilities. Tracey has worked with autistic children and their families for over 15 years.

We met when our eldest children started primary school together and we became firm friends. In 2011 we conquered the Moonwalk together where during our hours of training an idea was born...

In 2012 we set up Express CIC, a user led voluntary organisation to provide information and support to autistic children, young people and their families. What started around a kitchen table is now the ‘go to’ place for Kingston and Richmond families.

Express now run a busy ‘mini hub’ in Tolworth and provide:

Drama Group
Work Experience
Student Placements
Volunteer opportunities

This last year has been particularly challenging for our own families and the families we support. Throughout the pandemic we have continued to provide much needed services. We’ve grown and adapted our services, expanded our voluntary team and created additional part time roles to help us meet increased demand.

‘This is an excellent service and Zoom helped me access this for the first time’

‘The counsellor had a kind attentive manner. I felt I did not have to explain autism related difficulties, but could express that and cut to the chase, feeling I was heard and acknowledged.’

‘Being able to see you outside in his own garden gives him the freedom to move around freely and express himself in a safe environment. Even after lockdown I think this format is something we would want to continue with. Thank you so much for this unique offer.’

‘The One to One Zoom sessions have provided my child with invaluable support during a very difficult time, when access to other sources of support has been very limited. Having someone to speak with and connect with outside the immediate family has made a real difference to my child and us as a family. Express do amazing work!’

Our highlight of the year was our unique virtual Grotto which enabled shielding families to attend a magical online experience. ‘What a beautiful, fantastic experience, well done to all involved and Father Christmas himself. You made a shielding family’s day.’

We could not do what we do without our fabulous team and the amazing young people and families we support.

Counselling Service for parents/carers of children
with additional needs and disabilities

As parent/carers, life can be very challenging. It can feel overwhelming trying to manage the needs of your child and balance this with all the other parts of your life; family, work, friends. It is often hard to talk about your feelings with those close to you because you don't want to burden them or it can feel like they won't understand. Counselling can offer a safe space where you can talk through all of your difficulties and anxieties. A counsellor is trained to listen and support you in a non-judgemental way, creating a safe space for you to express your feelings, whatever they may be.

This is offered as a low cost service.

If you are interested in this service, please email:

'Towards the end of the sessions, I felt more able to predict/understand the anxieties that I was experiencing so that I could put in strategies to help me move forwards'

'I really appreciated the counselling sessions and have felt they were greatly beneficial'

' I felt more confident that I was beginning to understand the connection of historic issues that had been impacting on me in the present'
