October Astoria Park Conservancy Newsletter

Astoria's history is firmly grounded in community support, from the thousands of participants in our participatory design to the hundreds of donors, who continue to support Astoria Park Conservancy through philanthropic gifts.  It is a park designed and built by our community and for our community.  Unlike many of the recreational hot springs across the West, Astoria is designed for the benefit of the public. Astoria Park Conservancy will ensure that the park is true to its promise of accessible, welcoming recreation for our residents.

In order to continue to educate and inspire you, we are officially launching our monthly newsletter this month.  These emails will include construction and programming updates, plans for our opening in 2020, and stories about the donors who support us because they believe in our mission to steward Astoria and improve the health and connectivity in our community.

Updates like: the changing rooms section of the Welcome Center are taking shape (see above image)! The Welcome Center will include a snack shop, lockers, and more and is the only new building that is part of our first phase of construction. Our goal is to complete the welcome center through the winter and move back to the landscaping and construction of the pools and decks as soon as weather allows next spring.

Please feel free to share any feedback about our newsletters with me, Paige Curry, at

Thanks for participating in our
Voices of Astoria campaign!

This summer, we began recording memories of the former Astoria resort and accounts of what excites people most about the plans for the new Astoria.  Our Voices of Astoria campaign captured the opinions of many residents: people like Bari, who is excited about the access Astoria will provide all families to the outdoors to people like Orion, a new dad who is excited to create memories at Astoria like he did with his dad years ago.

You can submit your own memory of Astoria at our website and we will continue to share these throughout the next year.  We hope you'll be inspired to join in on the fun!

Astoria Park Conservancy depends on your philanthropic gifts to sustain our work and plan for our 2020 opening. Please consider making a gift to Astoria by clicking the link below.  Gifts of every size matter and help tremendously!
