130 Farmers Attend Winter Workshops
Certainly the winter months on the farm are different than those of the summer. Some might say they are quieter, but they are not less busy.  The time is found for planning for the next season, and learning about new opportunities. Two such events offered to local farmers included an Agriculture Water Workshop, teaching how farms can become more drought resilient, and a Farm Finance Workshop identifying a number of new and existing loan, grant and other financing programs.
Local Businesses Receive Nearly $265,000 in Funding

Kawartha Dairy Ltd. of Bobcaygeon and Mariposa Dairy Ltd. of Lindsay were both successful in receiving funding from the province. Congratulations!
"By supporting food and beverage processors in Ontario, we are helping businesses expand to become more competitive both here at home and abroad. A robust agri-food sector encompasses a strong value-chain including producers, processors and consumers. By working together, we will meet the Premier's Agri-Food Growth Challenge of doubling the sector's growth and creating 120,000 new jobs by 2020,"said Jeff Leal, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.
