It's been an eventful year!

Working with you to help Halton's homeless

Home Suite Hope is a groundbreaking organization that offers long-term shelter, and a variety of wrap-around social supports for low-income single parent families who are homeless or precariously housed. [Double click to zoom any of the images].

In the past year, another five families in our ReStart Halton program moved on to independent living after spending a year to 24 months under HSH's supportive wing. While with us, participants in the program gained new employment and confidence from learning new skills, increased their income, or entered or graduated from post-secondary education. One family moved to the USA to successfully reunite with their extended family.

Meanwhile, another cohort of hopeful women entered our Homeward Bound Halton program in the Fall of 2015. This holistic, 4-year job-readiness program  supports woman-led families with affordable housing and childcare, life skills training, academic upgrading, access to college education, and assistance with work placements. To keep participants from taking on additional debt, education costs are covered through community funded scholarships and fundraising.

A big thank you to our Board and Industry Council members and all the community partners who have worked closely with us in 2015 to establish the program in Halton: the Region of Halton, the Ontario Trillium Foundation, the Oakville Community Foundation, the Government of Ontario, Genworth Canada, TD Bank Group, and Sheridan College. We are also grateful to the YMCA of Oakville, ArtHouse and many others who continue to provide children and parent services for the program. To learn more, read Another Chance for Rebecca.
