Wyndover Fire Update – It Takes a Village

Once again our caring community came through to help our neighbors in need. Thank you for helping us serve the 19 families most impacted by the Wyndover Apartment Homes Fire in Novato. Since April 20, 2021 you’ve helped us:

  • Provide Safeway gift cards for food.
  • Pay for hotel stays for clients that did not have friends or family to stay with and literally had nowhere to go. Six families are still in hotels and await permanent housing. Two families have found permanent housing at Wyndover, and the remaining families are in temporary housing (with family/friends or at a temporary unit at Wyndover).
  • You’ve helped our Case Management team connect families to our Food Pantry, mental health services and other organizations in our community for additional help.
Thank you to the Novato Fire District and the American Red Cross for their immediate support, and to Bloom for providing free clothing to families in need.

We’re also grateful to the Marin Center for Independent Living for providing support to Wyndover residents with disabilities, and to Ultragenyx Pharmaceutical for providing emergency meals.

Special thanks to Rotary Club of Novato Sunrise, Grey Beyer and Bridgit Lappin, and many generous individuals, businesses and service clubs who have helped us get close to our $35,000 challenge match!

The Red Cross case manager advised us she was “wowed” by our community’s immediate, effective and strong response. Thanks to you and the careful coordination of several partners working together, no one was left to slip through the cracks.

In the words of one individual impacted by the fire:
“I was forced to evacuate my home due to a fire, and you stepped in and helped us through this difficult situation. My words can’t describe how grateful and thankful my family and I are. May God bless you more for the difference you have made in our lives.”

We are all part of one amazing village!
Together, the good work continues.
Our pride shines through in this month's NorthBay Biz Magazine's lead story "Like Father, Like Daughter," featuring our CEO, Cheryl Paddack, and the good work of North Marin Community Services.
