East Devon Way goes LIVE
This month we've launched our new, user friendly website that has all the essential information you need to visit and enjoy the stunning East Devon Way.
With over 25 easy to follow, downloadable, guides w
e’ve made it easier than ever for people to find out about the route and navigate a variety of impressive walks through the heart of the East Devon AONB.
The site also features an interactive map, that shows recommended places to ‘Eat, Sleep and Drink’ along the way; helping visitors find local suppliers and plan for their needs - as well as helping our Ambassador businesses get noticed!
Give your Community Project a boost
We've had lots of interesting projects enquiring about our SDF grant programme this year, but we still have funds available that could make a real difference to projects within your community.
So far we have assisted the set-up of a market garden; helping people with learning difficulties learn how to grow produce and sell at local outlets, part funded display cabinets for a local museum and supported a community-based initiative tackling an invasive weed damaging our native flora.
If you have any ideas that would benefit the environment, wildlife or communities of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and need funds to help make it happen then get in touch.

Acland Award nominations
Nominations are still open for the East Devon AONB Acland Award - our annual celebration of innovative and meaningful activity that enhances, promotes or conserves our area of outstanding natural beauty.
This year we're acknowledging projects that promote, conserve or enhance wildlife, the environment or heritage; with schools, individuals, businesses and groups all encouraged to enter.
The winner will be celebrated at our popular award presentation, receiving the Acland Trophy and the recognition of key local supporters and AONB Partnership members, as part of the East Devon AONB Annual Meeting. Nominations close 13 August.

Lending a hand

The Legacy to Landscape project has announced two new dates that give you a chance to roll up your sleeves and help enhance the environment for both people and wildlife.

With the planting of oak trees and shrubs, we will be enriching the hedgerows between Holyford Woods and the neighbouring hedgerows and copses to the north.
This will improve the conditions for a whole range of wildlife (inc. bats, dormice and insect life) to move around the countryside.
The dates are Saturday October 28th and Saturday November 18th and we will be working from 10.30 am until 3pm. You are welcome to come along for as long as you like, just bring a packed lunch and a hot drink.

Save the Date
It’s the main event in the East Devon AONB calendar and it’s coming soon.
Make a note in your diary to join us for an evening of presentation and celebration at the AONB Partnership Annual meeting. The event will bring together key local supporters, businesses, partnership members and Ambassadors, and will take place at the Donkey Sanctuary on 27th September 2017 from 6-9pm.
We’re delighted to have Harry Barton, Chief Executive of Devon Wildlife Trust, as our keynote speaker on the night, as well as CEO of the Donkey Sanctuary, Mike Baker. The East Devon AONB Acland Award will be also be presented.
Bookings are due to open soon, but please register your interest for reminders and further details.
