Christmas greetings
We would like to wish everyone a very fine festive season & hope you have some time to explore the countryside and enjoy all the festive events.
We would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you for all your support and enthusiasm over the past year; for helping with our Rural Business Fair, River Cottage Spring Fair, River Otter field event, a fundraising dinner and our Annual Forum, we hope you have had a chance to come along to enjoy some of them. Next year is set to be a good one with plans afoot for a Walking Festival in September 2016 and a range of other Ambassador & field events.
If you have a story or event you’d like to be considered for inclusion within next e-news in Spring, please send details by Monday 4th January to
The AONB office will be closed on Tuesday 22nd December and we will re-open on Monday 4th January
Ambassador Pledge
Thanks to all the Ambassadors who have responded to our Ambassador Pledge Survey. There is still time and we encourage you to complete it, if you haven't yet. It only take 5 mins. The Ambassador Scheme has been such a success we would like it to continue by making sure it reflects our shared environmental and countryside ethos and reciprocal support for our outstanding countryside.

Good news...
We love supporting local & the £2.00 special all day parking ticket has been brought back by the EDDC this winter.  It runs from 1 December - end of February and makes popping into town to support your local shops even easier.  You can use the same £2.00 ticket to park in any EDDC car park for the remainder of the day.
Funding news...
There is £1.4 million funding available from the new Making It Local programme, to find out if you are eligible and more about the fund click here.
To all the winners of awards at the recent Devon Tourism Awards, East Devon swept the floor and we are honoured that so many of them are also our Ambassadors.

Walking Festival
17 - 25 September 2016
East Devon AONB is working in collaboration with the Sidmouth Walking Festival group to present a new Sidmouth and East Devon Walking Festival next year. The programme is looking good and there will be lots of varied walks on offer.
There will be 3 guided walks each day:
1 Complete the whole of the East Devon Way using our coach transport from Sidmouth
2 A circular walk off the East Devon Way, to include an expert such as foraging, how to read a map, coastal geology, wildlife, dog friendly, history, myths and legends & tree experts
3 a coastal walk at Sidmouth, Budleigh Salterton and Branscombe
By extending the dates and expanding the offer slightly walkers can explore further afield to discover our outstanding countryside and stay in the quieter month.
Tourism businesses step forward
We are calling all B&B's and accommodation providers along the East Devon Way to be part of it, we hope it will attract visitors from afar to come and stay for the week. Also we would like to offer the option of pubs, cafes and places to eat and discover - so this really is a chance for us all to work together to put the festival on the map.
The walking festival is planned in the same week as Outstanding Week which we hope will get National media coverage then please get in touch if you are interested in linking your business or getting involved with this.
