Welcome to Sheltering Hands' Summer 2016 Newsletter. Summer is in full swing and we have had record numbers of adoptions, thanks to Gail, our Adoptions Coordinator, and all her wonderful volunteers. If you would like to meet some of our happy, adopted cats and their new families, check out our Facebook page ( see link at the bottom of this newsletter) or visit our website and click on our Alumni page under Cats.

Representing many happy new families, let us introduce Harry.

Harry- trying out one of many possible sleeping locations in his new home!
Just like in the 1921 song, new parents Dr. Scott and Karen Donnelly and Zseth Linde are "Wild About Harry"! Karen and Scott shared these thoughts about their new boy- "We are so excited to welcome Harry to our family! He has wiggled his way into our hearts & is such a delight to have as a sidekick during my workday. Harry, as with most cats, knows what he is about & has his own standards of comfort. Naturally, he prefers the hard lumpy top of the littler pail or being wedged behind me in my task chair as I work.

Even our demanding & determined little Peekingese, Dublin Sèamus, has found a new friend to romp with! We are so appreciative for the tips & advice that the Sheltering Hands team gave to help bring these 2 pals together.  We were worried about a clash, but with a planned & slow introduction, our 2 pets have become fast playmates.

it is so clear that Harry was given lots of love & excellent care before he found his furever home with us because he is such a charming & healthy little boy. We are looking forward to watching Harry grow & making many memories with his sweet little face! Our family highly recommends that you consider adopting a sweet cat from Sheltering Hands. They helped to match us with Harry, based off of his temperament & our home’s unique blend of activity & family members. We can't praise Sheltering Hands enough

If you can't get enough of these happy stories, check out our Facebook page for more about Harry and other adoption tales with happy endings.

National Adoption Weekend at PetSmart- September 16th-18th

Sheltering Hands is proud to partner with PetSmart in the upcoming National Adoption Weekend, September 16th-18th at the PetSmart on State Road 200, Ocala. We will have many wonderful cats and kittens looking for homes. Our Adoption Coordinator, Gail, has some fun events planned for this special adoption weekend. If you are looking for a new feline member for your family, please visit with us during this special weekend. In addition to the cats we will have at PetSmart, we also have many more in loving foster families and at CoCo's House at our Surgical Center. Give Gail a call at 352-840-0663, option #1 and she will help you find that special furry friend to add to your family.
2nd Quarter Adoption Numbers- From May-July of this year, we have placed 48 kittens, 12 adults, and 3 seniors in loving homes, a big jump from our first quarter of this year.  From initial conversations and application, through the required background check and home visit, our volunteers work hard to create loving, safe placements for our cats. We listen carefully to interested adopters to help create a match that will work for both them and the cat. Thank you to our dedicated adoptions counselors who work so hard to help make these placements.
