Holt Dorm

The ORMA maintenance department gave Holt Hall a facelift over the summer break. The front porch was painted and the building was pressure washed.

Holt Hall houses our female Cadets and dorm parent. This year a portion of the capital campaign will focus on fundraising to update and refresh Holt Hall.

The July Mingle

We held July’s Mingle in Durham on July 22nd.

August Mingle

We met in Charlotte on August 26th with several different generations of alumni. The classes of 1962, 1967, 1968, 1989, 1964, 2013, 1994, and 1993 joined us to socialize and discuss their memories of ORMA. Dr. Wilson updated the alumni on the current state of the Academy and thanked them for coming out to visit. This was the best attended mingle yet. Recruit Training

The Recruit Training System is the primary means in molding the recruit into a cadet. The system teaches recruits pride, integrity, honor, teamwork, efficient time management, and self-discipline. Recruits will understand personal responsibility and the concept of selfless-service. It is important that each recruit learns the importance of being a good follower in order to become a good leader. The Recruit will be rewarded for good behaviors that sets the foundation for good leadership skills.

Recruits focus exclusively on training with no athletic or co-curricluar activities until the recruit has sucessful passed the Recruit Training requirements.

Upon sucessful completion of Recruit Training, the recruit will be inducted into the Corps of Cadets and assigned to a company during an appropriate ceremony. This year’s Corps Day Ceremony was held on August 26th at 1330 (1:30 PM) in front of Alumni Hall.

The recruits are assigned to the Battalion S-3 detachement for all training. To become a member of the Corps of Cadets each recruit must successfully pass a written general knowledge test, drill and ceremony test, and the Cadet Challenge physical fitness. Cadet examinations are admisistered by the Commandants Office.
