Dear Parents:

There continues to be an alarming increase in vaping and vaping devices being returned to campus after breaks. In our effort to maintain the high quality of students that we have at ORMA, we will be doing “random” drug testing after each long break. If THC is found present in these tests, the cadet-student will be sent home immediately. If a vaping devise is found with the student, it will be destroyed. Again, this action is being done to protect all of our cadet-students and will be done randomly by selecting every 4th or 5th cadets as they check in.

I apologize for this action, but we simply must do everything we can to protect our students and your children from the terrible epidemic that is occurring in almost every school.

Bataan Memorial Death March Event

The Bataan Memorial Death March will be held on Saturday 25 March 23. The March will begin at 0600, meals will be provided by SGM McKaughan and MSG H. It is difficult to estimate a finishing time because the ability of the Cadets influences the speed at which they complete the march. Please estimate 12 to 14 hours to complete the activity. The Cadets will be allowed to call their parents when the march is complete.

Five-Day Boarders and Day Students will need to reside in the dorm the night of Friday 24 March 23. Participating Cadets need to show proof of registration the morning of the event. Cadets need to bring a water source, water refill locations will be provided.

Parents of Day Students:

Please be mindful of our “Day Student” rules and requirements.

• All Day Students must report for class no later than 0730 each school day.

• All Day Students are required to stay on campus until 1800 (6:00 PM) unless other arrangements have been made directly with the commandant. Walking off campus to meet a parent or guardian at the end of the day is not permitted and will be considered as AWOL (absent without leave). We want each day student-cadet to experience as much of the Oak Ridge Experience as possible.

• Reporting late to school or leaving early without authorization will result in demerits with can translate into marching tours.

• Event weekends will require our Day Students to be present with the option of leaving at the conclusion of said event by obtaining authorization from the Commandant.

Please help us by adhering to these rules and regulations as they are designed to establish structure, discipline, and accountability.

Closed Weekend Changes

The following closed weekends have been changed to open weekends:

March 3-5, 17-19, and 31-April 2; April 14-16

The Cadets will have the option of going home during all open weekends. If there is an activity on campus that your Cadets wants to take part in, there are no additional fees for these weekends. Day students do not need to report on open weekends unless they are participating in an event or activity such as sports or drill meets.
