Home Composting Workshop at Oxford City Farm in partnership with WISH - Wednesday 22nd June 2022 19:00-21:00 BST
Come and learn how to compost your food waste using worm farming, with a focus on upcycling/reusing of old containers
Home composting is an easy and eco-friendly way to divert kitchen and garden waste from landfill. Known as black gold by gardeners, homemade worm compost is full of life and nutrients that will feed your soil and your plants and is a great way to activate the Permaculture Principle- 'Create no waste'.
In this session led by Phil from Oxford City Farm and Anais from the Replenish and Community Action Groups we will look at:
How homemade compost supports soil and plant health
How composting works and we will describe some popular methods
How to set up and maintain your wormery composting system using upcycled materials ( you will be able to take some composting worms home if you wish).
The session will involve a talk followed by a Q&A. We will then look at the composting systems at Oxford City Farm, discuss how these are maintained and make mini wormeries for participants to take home.
This is a free event but please make a donation to Oxford City Farm
