Upcoming webinar: Tackling health inequalities in Oxfordshire

Please join us at our next webinar on Wednesday 21st September at 2 pm, where we will explore how the public and charitable sectors are improving mental and physical health in Oxfordshire.

COVID-19 has presented our society with a public health challenge not seen in most of our lifetimes. The public and charitable sectors have had to work in new ways, despite already being focused on longstanding health inequalities that make life harder for people in disadvantaged communities.

What are the priorities of statutory funders now, and why have they chosen to work through community foundations to get funds where they are most needed?

At this webinar we will hear from representatives of Public Health Oxfordshire and the County Council, as well as charitable organisations working at the grassroots to improve physical and mental health in innovative and inspiring ways.

We look forward to seeing you there!

The WISH project are making plans for some gleaning opportunities around Harvest and into the autumn.

The team at WISH are even now contacting local farms and allotments to see if volunteers from community food services can glean crops remaining in fields or orchards after the harvest.

They are hoping to bring on board local producers (e.g., businesses that make chutneys, fruit juices) who would give a percentage of the produce/sales back to the community food services.  Any remaining fruit and veg would go to the CFN to boost their fresh produce.

If you have a team of interested volunteers, please be in contact with Rachel who will put you in contact with a farm or allotment local to you.  If you already have links with a farm/allotment, perhaps you could contact them and see if they would be willing to let you glean.  Let us know how you get on.

A list of farms, dates and times have yet to be finalised - so watch this space.
