Sunday Scripture: Isaiah 2:1-5,

It's the Wednesday Email!
The office is closed for the rest of the week as both I and Linda go off for Thanksgiving (I’m actually already out of the office and en route to Chicago). Thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of pies, of annual meeting, of last night’s Thanksgiving worship, and of the pre-greening of the sanctuary. This Sunday is your chance to refresh your memory of what all those things in the sanctuary mean and why we hang them in Advent. It’s always a special service and chance for everyone to participate in both worship and education.
Until then, rejoice, give thanks, and sing!
Grace, and Peace,

A Welcoming Church Family
For Rich Misty, Nick, and Aggie, mourning Rich DeReus’s death. For Trina, Tom, Maddy, Dillon, and Nick, and their family, as Tom recovers from COVID and they prepare for a Thanksgiving with mourning. For Ankeny United Church, as we prepare to commission a pastoral search committee. For the Food Bank to amend its policies depriving DMARC of its food. For the at least 2,058 people who died of COVID in America last week. Of Thanksgiving.
Exploring Progressive Christian Theology
Community Thanksgiving Worship!
Thanks for everyone who participated in last night joint worship service, including by baking or bringing pies!
This week’s scripture reminds us that we all have gifts of the spirit. Sometimes they are hidden, and sometimes they come to the fore. As we head into annual meeting, we are looking for people with gifts for creative worship, for education, for service and outreach, and for fellowship to serve as deacons for the next two years. Sue and Stephanie have done an able job as a duo since February, but we are believe church is better when we can host more diverse temperments and talents in our lives of discipleship!
And Serving Beyond
Thank you to all who supported the pie making event last weekend. Those who helped make and bake the pies were Teddy, Martha, Zach, Kaylin and Zora, Peg, Joan, Laura and Kayleen. Those who donated supplies were: Stephanie, Beth, Sue, Peg and Laura. Thank you to all who purchased pies. We raised $220 for DMARC!
On another front:
Thank you to those who helped decorate the sanctuary for Advent. Mark and Jenn, Gale, Joan, Peg, Fran, Kayleen, Bruce O. and Laura have us prepared for the Hanging of the Greens on Sunday.
