Dear <<First Name>>,

One of my favourite Bible verses is Psalm 119.13: "The unfolding of your words brings light."  God's Word opens people's eyes to the truth, so they can find the path that leads to eternal life. But people have been walking in darkness for too long - over 1 billion are without a Bible in their language! Thank you for partnering with us to help bring the light to them.

God bless, Barry Funnell

2020, the year of the Bible

The Year of the Bible

Christian leaders, musicians and politicians have recognised 2020 as the year of the Bible. It’s a year-long campaign to promote a global celebration of the Word of God.

Missionary leaders from over 34 countries convened at the Museum of the Bible in Washington DC last year to launch 2020 as the year of the Bible.

The Word for the World has been included in the top ten Bible Agencies worldwide to help bring God's Word by 2030 to over one billion people that are still  living in Bible poverty. There are still 3867 languages in need of Bible  translation. The initiative is called "IllumiNations." Click on the link to see their website.

Sena Literacy

Mercy Jasi was illiterate, but since joining TWFTW's literacy classes her life has turned around. She is now the secretary of the village loan scheme, even signing bank cheques on behalf of the village people. She loves to read the Sena Bible, her favourite passage being Mat 25.1-13. She is now ready for the Lord's return. like one of the wise virgins in the story.

From a recent report, it is fantastic to read that the illiteracy rate among the Sena people has improved from 73% in 2006 to 45% in 2019. TWFTW has over 100 literacy centres among the Sena people.

Please join us in praise for:

  • The amazing impact the New Testaments in Tanzania are having on the people of ten language groups that received them in 2016.
  • TWFTW UK has been selected as one of seven Bible Agencies by IllumiNations Europe to help us connect with major donors to be a part of ending Bible poverty.
  • Our Sena literacy project in Malawi is changing lives and bringing people to Christ.

The Yao in Tanzania

In the small village of Muhesi, Tanzania, the book of Acts brought blessing, unity and love to the community.

According to the testimony of some leaders, the Bible in their heart language gave them a sound foundation. Before receiving the book of Acts, they had no understanding of God’s love for all people.

The message they received gave them direction and hope. The Bible has given the people of the Muhesi Village the strength to face many challenges.

519,000 people share the Yao language. Your support has made it possible to complete 21% of the Yao Bible! Thank you for your continued support! Click here for another Yao story.

Barry is flying to Tanzania tomorrow to check the book of Exodus in the Ngoni and Yao languages. The New Testament will soon be published and the OT is being drafted in both languages.

Please pray with us for:

  • The above photo is of two Ngoni translators. Barry will be checking Exodus with them, as well as with the Yao translators. Pray for the 400,000 Ngoni people to respond to the New Testament which is soon to be launched.
  • Pray for the checking of Exodus to go well and the mentoring of 3 consultants-in-training. Thuo is travelling from Nairobi, Kenya, and the others are two Tanzanians, Raymond and John.
  • Raymond and John are both doing MTh degrees in translation, please pray for their studies as they aspire to be recognised consultants.
  • Pray for the projects in Asia, and all the planned training and consultations which have been scheduled to take place in the next few months. Pray that the coronavirus will be contained and not affect any of our translators or any of these programmes.
Please consider becoming a partner with us in 2020 to help erradicate Bible poverty:
