This week we've got free professional photos in Birmingham, scholarships from Google, and how you can avoid a trip to Vegas. Plus, The PA Show is back at the Excel!

You're welcome!

What We're Reading

  • Our favourite photographer from Birmingham, Mr Ladd, has been helping those of us who have found ourselves unemployed by taking professional photos for people to use on LinkedIn and in job applications. Mr Ladd, we salute you, sir! 👏🏼
  • Coombe Abbey Hall Hotel in Warwickshire has opened again, and we can tell you from personal experience, it's an A-MA-ZING place to have a Christmas party. The rooms are spectacular, and the whole place is sumptuous. Just check out the photos!
  • The amazing (and, quite frankly, mind-reading) Lily Shippen has given us this perfectly-timed guide to the bars and restaurants in Manchester who aren't requesting bookings this weekend! Hurrah!!
If there are any other similar guides out there for other parts of the UK, let us know, and we will publish them next week 🍻

Have you ever wanted to easily send your availability to someone who is booking a meeting?

This week, the inspirational Maggie Jacobs (author of The Elevated EA) shared this nugget of awesomeness

  • The Office Dynamics "2020 and Beyond" conference is, for the FIRST TIME EVER, available online. Get your ticket NOW for this epic 2 and a half day career-changing event which is taking place at the end of October. You don't even have to go to Vegas this time 😐
  • The PA Show is BACK BABY! London's Excel will host this renowned event next year on 2-3rd March. We will most likely all still be socially distancing, but we've never been more excited to be mingling again!
  • 30th July is the date for the BBO "Your Mindset Matters" event, being hosted online from 7.30pm. Register here
  • Got an event you want to shout about? Let us know!
We are bringing you another Ted Talk this week, basically because it's so thought provoking. Or thought preventing? Have a watch and see what we mean

Training and tech

  • With some of us slowly starting to go back to the office, this helpful guide from the Harvard Business Review who conducted a review of academic articles before coming up with these 4 important questions to consider. Massive thanks to Craig Harris for sharing!
  • Google have just announced 100,000 scholarships for online certificates that, it says, they will consider as a 4-year college degree for related roles at the company. You can take these courses via Coursera. Fantastic work, Google!
  • Do you sometimes need your team to confirm whether they have done something? Perhaps you need to ask them all a question? Easily track their responses with Voting Buttons. If you've not used these before, they're a bit of a game changer
  • Fancy making a pony run across your screen while you're in a Google Hangout? We've found some secret emojis to brighten up your meetings!!
