A life and ministry update:

« Summer 2017 »

Hisashiburi desune!

Or in English "long time, no see!" Friends, its been a while! We had a busy, wonderful summer visiting family and friends as well as checking in with churches and individual supporters. Naomi did amazing. She has her moments, but she really is a contented little gal, and such a trooper. Although the flight layovers and time changes were insane, she bounced back in two days, and was ready to enjoy our trip. We started our travels in Alaska, where we got to soak up some midnight sun, family and friend time and take part with the body of Christ. We attended two VBS programs as the missions guests. It was exciting to share a little bit of Japanese language, culture, food, and most importantly, the desperate need for the gospel.

Being back in Alaska and getting to enjoy the outdoors was like medicine for the soul! God's creation truly is a witnesses to His majesty and power, love and grace! We took a trip to Travis' parents cabin; we were so happy to share that special place with Naomi. We also went camping on the beach in Seward with my family. Both weekends were amazingly dry, for Alaskan summer weather! It was amazing to watch Naomi's little soul awaken to being out in the wild. The first day there in Alaska, she wasn't even comfortable walking through Grandma and Grandpa Kilson's lawn, but just a couple weeks in and she was running through the woods, picking up rocks and sticks and really exploring the outdoors.
While in Alaska we also met with supporters and had several times to share with prospective supporters. One such time was a missionary reception hosted by friends from the Christian Church of Anchorage. We shared a beautiful meal of sushi (made by our wonderful host) and finger foods. After having given several general greetings and presentations to bigger groups at churches, it was nice to share, in a more intimate setting, a little of our life and our needs in Japan.
At the end of our trip we, along with my (Becky's) parents and sisters, flew to Washington to visit my family in Washington and briefly visit our dear friends from college who are also now living in Washington. My family took trips to Washington many of the summers of my childhood, and it was so wonderful to be there again with my extended family. It was also sweet to be there with my own little family together to show Naomi the beautiful state of Washington, from east to west.
We thank you all for praying for us, supporting us, and hosting us on our trip. We hope this update will show you all a little of how you have blessed us in your support of our family. We could not have made this trip without our supporters! We still marvel to be remembered and supported from so far away. We are constantly surprised and delighted by the body of Christ and the generosity and love shown to our family. We pray we can take those blessing and use them well for a fruitful ministry here and most of all to bring glory to God.
