Family and Ministry Update
Hello family and friends. We hope that you all are well. It seems tiring to continue to talk about Covid-19, but that is still what life is revolving around, isn't it? Here's a blog I (Becky) wrote with some thoughts on social distancing life, something that I've been chewing on for a while.
Our lives have begun to shift back toward the before Covid lifestyle, very slowly but it is encouraging all the same. At the end of May, the State of Emergency was lifted for Tokyo. Other parts of Japan had already begun opening up, but Tokyo is the most crowded, therefore has the most cases, so they are taking extra precautions. We have started the process of getting back to life! We are taking things little by little, but happy to be headed back in this direction. Please pray with us as the numbers have begun to rise again after things begin opening up; pray about those who are sick or at risk. Pray for compassion and not fear in the hearts of the Japanese Christians, that we may be a light in this dark time.

Naomi started kindergarten at the beginning of June with a modified schedule of two groups alternating days, so that only half the students were present at school at any one time. They continued this two group schedule until this week. Monday she began the regular schedule, attending a full day, with all the students in her class. She delights in kindergarten! Whenever I ask her what she likes, she declares without hesitation, "Everything!" She has made several friends, and I (Becky) have begun to get to know some of the moms during drop off and pick-up times. We're grateful for these new friendships and connections and we hope that you will pray with us that we can be used to witness to those we come across, with whatever means possible.

At the beginning of June we began having Sunday services with many modifications: two services to keep numbers low since our building is small , social distancing, wearing masks, no singing etc. It has been a challenge to be able to engage with one another, but also be "socially distant", please pray for us as we navigate these changes, and try to do our best with the current situation.
We also recommenced English Bible study, and kids English classes on Wednesdays. Those are also modified at this time to keep socially distant, but we are still glad for the opportunity to teach and reach out to the community, even in small ways.
The situation with the Covid-19 virus changes daily. As of now the numbers of infected in Japan are rising, and we may be looking at the government closing things down once again. Please pray for world leaders to make prudent decisions. Pray for us not to be tossed here and there with every theory, or agenda, but to be grounded in Christ's love, discerning of the truth, and led by the Holy Spirit's promptings.
We love you all, and we're grateful everyday for your support of our family.
The Kilsons
