Monthly Update and BIG Announcement

Hello family and friends. How are you all doing? We have seen the numbers of Covid cases rising in the US, and we pray that you all can keep healthy and well. The girls have taken turns getting colds about every other week. It seems to be nothing more than shared germs from Kindergarten, but it is wearying at times when we have to wait until they are symptom free to go out. (A dry cough can last for weeks!) We are grateful that they haven't been seriously ill, and still are cheerful and energetic even with a head cold.

We have been busy with routine doctor checkups for the girls and I, getting the house ready for baby #3, and online and in person Bible studies. On top of planning two English Bible studies, and one Japanese sermon per month, Travis just finished teaching English at Izumi Junior College. Though he was only hired to teach the Spring semester, they had to extend the term into the fall season to accommodate for his classes only meeting half in attendance one week and half the next, to keep the number of students in the classroom low. He enjoyed teaching and is hoping to continue teaching again next spring.
Throughout the Covid lockdowns and restrictions, we have seen and heard from many that have had financial disruptions, and loss of work in this time. We shared last month, and we want to say again how we are continually blessed and grateful for our supporters and your faithful giving. We have had steady support, and even extra donations earlier this year that have blessed us more than you know. We have been able to get our house ready for our baby #3. Recently we bought a gently used a bunk bed frame and new mattress for the girls so that Maye could transition off the crib mattress (that had just been on the floor) in order for the baby to use it next year. We even found another dresser at my favorite thrift store around the corner so that we can move each kid up one, and empty out the smaller dresser to make room for the baby's clothes.
Guess what...ITS A BOY!!!
On the note of clothes we will be needing a whole new wardrobe for baby #3 as well because... we learned last prenatal appointment that God has blessed us with a baby BOY! We are so surprised and excited, and we cannot wait to meet him and introduce him to his sisters. My prenatal appointments have all gone very smoothly. Baby boy is measuring on schedule, and at his 20 week scan the doctor said that there were no anomalies or deformities detected in his development. I feel regular kicks and nudges every day now, each one a little reminder of the new life that we anxiously anticipate. Please be in prayer that baby boy continues healthy development, and that I can keep healthy during the pregnancy.
Last month our family was blessed to be able to take a mini family vacation. We decided to take advantage of the discounted domestic travel campaigns going on now as part of a governmental effort to boost the travel industry, which is suffering from lack of international tourists this year. We stayed two nights in Sakuragicho, an area that we love in the city of Yokohama. It takes about an hour by train to get there, and there's so much to do and see. We walked along the seawall, and through Yamashita park on the coast. We shopped at my favorite import store and bought some snacks we haven't seen in a while.  We took a night water taxi ride, and got to enjoy the city lights from the water.
We also were able to use some coupons we received from Machida city to get free admission to the children's Anpanman Museum. Anpanman is one of the girls favorite Japanese cartoons. Click here to see the surprising and unique Christian heritage of this popular Japanese cartoon. We had planned way too many stops and activities to fit into each day, as everything takes so much longer than you think it will with kids in tow (will we ever learn? haha), but we still had a very fun and memorable trip.
We purchased the The Jesus Storybook Bible for our family devotion time and brought it on our trip to read together. The girls LOVE this book. If you have littles in your life, we highly recommend it!
As we look to the end of the year, we know this is a dark and oppressive time for many. We pray for you all in the US who may be feeling isolated, as we do also at times. Please pray with us also for the Japanese who do not have the hope of Christ as their assurance and salvation in these hard times. Please pray that we would be able to share the gospel through the holidays, especially at Christmas when there is such an open door to hear the true story of Christmas.

Thinking of you all. God bless,

The Kilsons
