Chucalissa Anoachi

December 2016

Volume 10, Number 7

Thanks to our volunteers for a great 2016!

During this holiday season, the staff of C.H. Nash Museum at Chucalissa sends a heartfelt THANK YOU to the many volunteers who made our programs and special events possible this year. Our volunteers included park rangers, Southwind Garden Club, scout troops, Freedom Prep students, MAGS members, University of Memphis faculty and students, artisans, archaeologists, and people who wanted to get a behind-the-scenes view of the museum.

Throughout 2016 dedicated volunteers sorted artifacts, demonstrated crafts for special events, cleared the nature trail, built exhibits, maintained gardens, assisted with school groups, and much more.  We wish all of our volunteers a safe and happy holiday season.  See you in the New Year!

Dr. Ryan Parish, Department of Earth Sciences, demonstrated flint-knapping during International Archaeology Day 2016.

Freedom Prep students constructed sleeping benches for the replica Mississippian house.

University of Memphis and Freedom Prep students gave the classroom a major facelift with fresh paint and artwork.

Southwind Garden Club beautified the exterior of the museum with summer flowers.
