The Galilee Foundation are delighted to be hosting a one-off online screening of the Oscar shortlisted short film The Present by acclaimed British/Palestinian film maker Farah Nabulsi.

The Present stars Saleh Bakri and Maryam Kanj and is about a father and his young daughter, who sets out to buy an anniversary gift against the backdrop of a reality that includes soldiers, segregated roads and checkpoints.

The emotional film has picked up numerous audience and jury awards and has now been short listed for the Oscars 2021, and long listed for the BAFTAs 2021.

Our online screening offers attendees the chance to take part in an exclusive Q&A session with the director herself, plus all donations will go towards supporting Palestinian students and empowering them through education.

About the Director
Farah Nabulsi is a Palestinian British filmmaker. Her work includes Today They Took My Son, endorsed by renowned British Director Ken Loach.
In 2019, she directed her first film, The Present, which she also co-wroteIt had its North American premiere at the Cleveland International Film Festival, where it won the Jury Award for Best Live Action Short, qualifying it for the 2021 Oscars.
Farah is currently in development of her debut feature length film, The Teacher.
And remember, all money from ticket sales goes towards providing educational opportunities for underprivileged Palestinian youth.

Here’s what your donation could do:
£10 – Could buy books and learning materials for underprivileged Palestinian students

£54 –  Could provide Palestinian women with coding skills to help them work remotely, thus providing them with a rare opportunity for professional and gainful employment

£96 – Could go towards supporting an underprivileged Palestinian student with a partial scholarship for one academic year, which could make the difference between quitting due to poverty or continuing to graduation
