Happy New Year Bobcats and Bobkittens!

I am recharged, renewed, reenergized and revitalized! Reflecting on what’s happened in our school this past year always makes me appreciate the solidarity of our community! It’s because of YOU that we all benefit and I take delight in being part of this TEAM we call Beechwood!!
Our Barnes and Nobles Family Fun Night was jumpin’ with our teacher readers, wrapper rappers and multiple dining options: Daphne’s, Panda Express, Rubio’s and Souplantation. The B&N café was pouring steamin’ piping hot beverages beyond their capacity and there was limited space to maneuver in the children’s department.  Thanks go out to our amazing alumni, staff & teachers for going above and beyond to make this event a reason to celebrate and enjoy family and friends: Mrs. Miller, Mr. Diaz, Mr. Choi, Mrs. Bustamante, Dr. Bak, Mrs. Martinez, Mrs. Bergeron, Mrs. Powers, Mrs. Arnold, Ms. Healy, Mrs. McDougall, Mrs. Agle, Mrs. Campbell, Mrs. Gire, Mrs. Leavitt, Mr. Reed and Principal Graham. I am extremely grateful for Julia You for taking the time to shadow with me to take over D4D! Thanks go out to Gail Henkhaus, Julie Grimm and Connie Sim for helping with our Middle School Holiday Collections to show appreciation to our Middle School Teachers for how they help us engage and educate our students daily. Thanks to Amy Witt and her fabulous Mum for another fun and festive holiday party for our teachers, complete with soups, panini’s and photo booth! Finally, a fond farewell to our Traffic Safety Team Chair: Kim Elliott, and volunteers: Hilda Nodarse, Nadia Kowley, John Milan, Nimmi Richards, Raquel Garcia, Tom Kugelmann, Alan Tan and Edgar Barrientos for your commitment to this volunteer job of caring and investing time to keep our parents, students and staff safe! You are all appreciated!!
What’s happening this month? Our PTSA Parliamentarian, Ninh Kieu Lee, will begin the process of looking for eligible candidates to fill roles on our PTSA Board. If you’re interested or know of another parent who would be an asset to this team, please contact her: or text 310-408-5608. Our D4D is at Pieology on January 27, 2016.

Beechwood is a school known for our culture and our strength in how we band together in all circumstances, it’s because of YOU that makes being a part of Beechwood so great!

Karen Kimoto
Beechwood PTSA President

The Beechwood PTSA is looking to fill a number of Board positions for the 2016-2018 term.  If you are interested or know of anyone who would like to join this exciting and energetic team of volunteers, PLEASE ATTEND THE JANUARY PTSA MEETING. We will be forming the Nomination Committee at this meeting and elections will be held in March. For further information,  please contact the Parliamentarian, or text 310-408-5608.

Dear Beechwood Families,
The Foundation is thrilled to wish all our Beechwood Families a Wonderful 2016. We hope that you have had a refreshing, fun-filled break and are anxious for all the fantastic things the second semester holds.
While the New Year is a symbol of hope and new beginnings, it is also a time to be thankful and grateful for the past year. We are especially grateful to represent our community.  2015 was an amazing year and we are so thankful for your support.

Looking forward, we have 3 events to share with you. In February we will hold our open meeting. It has been many years since the foundation has had some flexibility with how to spend their funds so we plan to have a focus group. This group will get to have input on the programs the foundation should consider funding for the 2016 – 2017 school year. We hope you can join us for this meeting.
Mark your calendars for our annual dinner and auction in March. The masquerade theme will be a magical backdrop for a memorable night. Tickets go on sale in February. Buy your tickets early for a discounted price and also because these tickets will sell out! Also, if you or anyone you know would like to donate or volunteer, please contact us via email at
And to close the year, we will be having the 5K in April with an Intergalactic theme. This community event brings families and runners together for an enjoyable morning. Sponsorship opportunities will be published soon so stay tuned.
So get ready Beechwood! As usual, it is going to be a fast and furious second semester but such a great one too!
Thank you for supporting the foundation and we look forward to getting back to business and making 2016 a  record breaking, trendsetting, Beechwood kind of year!
Wishing you and your families a blessed New Year,
The Foundation

Schoola is a platform for school fundraising and an easy way for Beechwood to make money...also making things easier for you. Instead of dropping of donations to Good Will, Salvation Army, etc. you can just request bags from Schoola and send your gently used clothing back to them to resell...and Beechwood makes money.

More information will be coming soon. But if you are ready to get started please visit, which will take you right to the Beechwood page. Get a bag and start earning money for our school.

Did you know there is an easy way to help us raise money for Beechwood - for books, reading programs and anything else that can use extra funding? It's called Take Charge of Education, and it's helping our school right now.

Here's how it works: Visit or call 800-316-6142 to designate our school, then use your REDcard whenever you shop. When you use your REDcard (Target Visa Credit Card, Target Credit Card or Target Check Card), Target will donate up to 1% of your purchases to the eligible K-12 school of your choice.

So far the total of all Target donations to Beechwood (through February 2015) is $8488.48! And that's with only 104 parents simply registering their cards. Beechwood's School ID is: 113771.

Grandparents, alumni, friends and neighbors are all welcome to participate in the program. The more people we involve, the harder the program works for our school. If you're already participating, thank you! Check out our school's progress anytime at
The Target Red Card Education Program ends on 05/14/2016.

An AmazonSmile account has been set up for Beechwood Foundation! AmazonSmile is a simple and automatic way for you to support Beechwood every time you shop, at no cost to you.
