Dear Bobcats,
If I had all the time in the world I would take every moment of every day that I lived to thank each and every person who took, has taken, will take the time to dedicate their life in bettering the life or lives of others. I would be able to write a novel of Thanksgiving to every parent, teacher, staff and student for the ways in which they are making an impact here at Beechwood! Thanks go out to: Mary Gerace Oliver for her time spent on the Marquee; Raquel Garcia and Eisa Rosas and their volunteer crew for surpassing their last years Book Fair goals; our photo helpers, Hilda Nodarse, Kim Elliot, Kori Waugh and Raquel Garcia for sacrificing two days to make certain our kids looked perfect in their school photo; Jacy Young for delivering the Spirit Wear and keeping us all informed with the Bobcat Bulletin; Maggie Weston for coordinating another successful D4D at OSF and D’Vine; Red Ribbon Week Coordinators, Erin Molino and Teresa McMackin for their phenomenal work at transforming Beechwood and for planning the Red Ribbon Week festivities; The Beechwood Families and Girls Scout Troops for being available to tie hundreds of Red Ribbons on campus; Nick and Tisha Thompson for preparing and planning our special Drug Awareness Assemblies for our parents and students; The Fullerton Police Department and Sergeants for their knowledge and community involvement; Janette Bustamante and friends for collecting and displaying Reflections projects in the MPR for our Reflections Program; Paul Anderson for coordinating, planning and securing our wonderful Career Day speakers; Christine Monson, Carole Jessup and Megan Oates for working together to provide a memorable Career Day Luncheon for our presenters and staff. Thank you to all of our parents and community businesses who came to share about their careers! Christine Monson and Jennifer Bernard for heading our Beechwood Daughter Date Night; Carlos and Jana Ixmay, Yevette Garza, Eisa Rosas and Raquel Garcia for coming together to help others through Pathways of Hope; Julie Grimm our room coordinator and all our room parents for keeping us informed; our teachers and staff members for allowing our PTSA to share in the triumphs and successes of their accomplishments! Beechwood School is surrounded with supportive parents and community members who offer and sacrifice on a daily basis for the betterment of improving our school, all for the sake of our children! When we engage in taking small moments to share and care we are being proactive change agents.
What’s happening this month that you might want to be involved in? Our Pathways of Hope Collection from Nov. 10 – Dec. 4. The High School Information Night for all Middle School students and parents will be on Wednesday, November 12 at 6:30pm in the MPR with Dr. Giokaris (FJUHSD Superintendent) giving an overview of what each high school has to offer as well as the Open Enrollment process. Our PTSA meeting will be Friday, November 14 at 8:15, The Beechwood Daughter Date Night (Bring your father or a special loved one) is also in the Beechwood MPR on Friday, November 14, 2014, Our Barnes and Nobles Family Fun Night in Amerige with our teachers, Starbucks teacher special featured drinks, teacher w’RAP’pers and participating eateries will be on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 followed by a week break in honor of Thanksgiving! There is plenty to be thankful for! So, take the time to show gratitude to someone, whether it be an encouraging word or a simple smile! I feel fortunate and blessed daily by the exchanges I have with every person I encounter.
Gratefully Yours,
Karen Kimoto
PTSA President

Thank you so much for your generous support of the Beechwood PTSA. 521 members have joined our Beechwood PTSA so far. We are still looking for additional members to reach our goal of 650. Any parent, teacher, student or family member can become a PTSA member for just $10. The money we collect goes toward fun and enriching programs like Red Ribbon Week, Career Day, and our newest event, Family Festival of the Arts: Share the Love. In past years we have used the money raised to help pay for playground equipment and our murals throughout the school. This year we are setting aside funds to purchase a sound system for our assemblies. If you haven’t done so already, please join the Beechwood PTSA. You can find additional PTSA membership envelopes and forms in the office. If you have any questions, please email Megan Oates at meganoates@gmail.com.
Dear Bobcat Families -
Thank you so much for supporting our 5K Event! After a year off, the 5K is back and in a big way. A special thank you to Kate Lynch for spearheading the organization of the 5K and many more thanks to her amazing team. They all went above and beyond and from myself and the Foundation Board, we just cannot say thank you enough. Another thank you to the PTSA for a fantastic Career Day. I was fortunate enough to catch a portion of one of the speaker’s presentations and was so moved. He not only spoke about his skill, his profession but encouraged the kids to be proud of who they are. I hope someone got it on video because it was awesome! Did I mention, he even had props for this? I thought his encouragement was a great way to end Red Ribbon Week and continue the Million Misfits Sock March celebration of individuality. As we get ready for the holidays, I first, cannot believe the year is almost over but second, I pause and reflect on all that brings meaning and joy to my life. It may sound crazy, but this position is one of them. We have been taught that it’s “better to give then to receive” but all this? “All this” is one gift that I am very happy to receive. Thank you all for your contributions in hours and donations. Time and effort. Support and enthusiasm. Knowledge and experience. Grace and wisdom. Thank you, thank you, thank you. May you receive all that you give and more. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving! Thankful to be a Bobcat.

See you all at the Beechwood 5K this Sunday, November 2! It's not too late to fill-out a last minute registration or to register at the race. The first 1,000 participants receive a "Beechwood 5K" water bottle with their t-shirt. Don't miss the fun!
Got costumes and props cluttering your house? Please donate to the school drama program. We especially need Native American, Pirate, Animal, Mermaid, and Fairy costumes and props. We can also use large dark t-shirts in any condition.
Just drop items off in the box in the office. Students will learn to re-purpose them, and your costume will bring life in the theater for years to come! Thank you!
