50th Anniversary of The Festival of Whales

Join us for the 50th anniversary of Dana Point Festival of Whales, March 6 and 7, 2021.

The Festival will proceed as a hybrid mix of in-person and virtual events.  Whether COVID-19 restrictions persist or ease, the whales don’t mind and will, as always, grace our coast with their awe-inspiring presence during their annual migration.

Whale watching excursions have been, and are expected to continue, operating out of Dana Point with COVID-19 protocols in place to provide viewing in a safe and socially-distanced manner. Other Festival events will be tailored to adhere to health restrictions. Don’t miss the City’s Under the Sea Trolley with Wally the Whale on March 6th making stops at different locations in Dana Point Harbor to hand out sea life themed crafts for children.

We look forward to having you join us for our golden anniversary!

Also in case you missed it Dana Point has been designated the first Whale Heritage Site in North America by the United Kingdom-based World Cetacean Alliance. See the article in the Dana Point Times by clicking the button below.

Short Term Rentals
Did you miss the meeting earlier this week on Short Term Rentals? More than 80 participants joined the Planning Commission to discuss Short Term Rentals regulations in Dana Point. This meeting, available for viewing on the city's YouTube channel, is part of an ongoing discussion to develop appropriate regulations for a Short Term Rental (STR) Pilot Program that works in the best interest of both residents and visitors. The goal of the Pilot Program is to establish regulations that maintain the character of Dana Point neighborhoods by discouraging absentee corporate STR ownership, protecting against nuisances, and balancing the rights and responsibilities of all residents and homeowners.

To be added to the email list to receive information, email str@danapoint.org. Information on upcoming meetings will be posted on all City social media platforms and on the City's STR website link below.
