New! Practice-Based Coaching

Explore Practice-Based Coaching: Components and Implementation Strategies (ECLKC). This new module details Practice-Based Coaching (PBC) and its various elements: Collaborative Partnerships, Shared Goals and Action Planning, Focused Observation, Reflection, and Feedback. Learn how to strategize, implement, and appreciate the role of video for PBC. A full selection of modules can be found on our Media, Modules, & More page.

Media Library Now Open to the Public!

Many faculty, instructors, and trainers in our EarlyEdU Alliance community are making the fast transition to teaching and providing professional development online. To support the greater community in this transition, for a short time, we are opening access to the EarlyEdU Media Library to the public. The media library has content that can be downloaded and streamed for use in courses, presentations, and professional development activities. Browse interviews with faculty experts, examples of evidence-based teaching practices, webinars, and more.

To open EarlyEdU Media Library account:

  1. Answer the questions about cookies and analytics.
  2. Click on the word Register and complete the registration process.
  3. The EarlyEdU team will activate your account within 72 business hours, and a confirmation email will be sent to you from WebDAM.
  4. Start searching the library for resources!

There are several Quickstart Guides, but if you would like information on how to use the library, we are hosting a 60-minute orientation and Q&A session every Wednesday through May 13, 2020, 10 a.m. PDT/1 p.m. EDT (except April 29). Visit https://washington.zoom.us/j/316433282 to participate.

Media Library: What’s New?

New videos are added regularly to the Media Library. Here’s what’s new for April:

  • 12 Observation-length videos, 5, 10, 15, and 20 minutes in length (Search observation practice video in the Special Collections facet category)
  • 33 Dual Language Strategy and/or Spanish Language videos (with captions in Somali, Spanish, and English)
  • 34 Short video clips from Circle Time MagazineTM, Season 2: Positive Behavior Support
  • 3 Videos related to specific curriculum studies (with captions in Somali, Spanish, and English)
  • 68 Inclusion videos produced by Head Start Center for Inclusion
  • 24 ELO Two-Minute Tips

Mindfulness: A Resilience Practice

Take a moment to appreciate the benefits of being mindful. Watch Mindfulness: A Resilience Practice (ECLKC) to understand the importance of maintaining instructor health in order to provide children with the best learning opportunities. Discover helpful exercises for adults and children to help all stay grounded during stressful times.

Notice! EarlyEdU Alliance Membership Extension

All current EarlyEdU Alliance licenses, originally set to expire on June 30, 2020 will be extended to December 31, 2020 with members maintaining their current level of access. Members will receive notice confirming the extension from CoMotion in the coming weeks. Faculty associated with an Institute of Higher Education (IHE) license will continue to enjoy free access to all EarlyEdU courses. Not a member yet? EarlyEdU Alliance Highlight Webinar

Using Interactive Media in Early Learning. Are you wondering what direction to give early childhood teachers on how to effectively engage young children with digital media? Are you a teacher and want to know how to best serve young children in a remote environment? These questions are more relevant than ever! Join EarlyEdU’s Katie Emerson Hoss, Higher Education Outreach and Implementation Manager, and Heather O’Leary, Early Childhood Education Content Specialist to explore some of the publicly available resources available to help navigate this new normal. The webinar will highlight top strategies and provide suggestions on adapting materials to fit your teaching or training context.
