Language and Literacy

Talk, talk talk! Enjoy this short video on Language Modeling and Conversations:  Novel Words (ECLKC). Conversations between adults and children promote the development of complex language and thinking skills. Introducing new vocabulary grabs a child’s attention, stoking curiosity and appreciation in both the spoken and written word.
Infants develop phonological awareness within the first five days of life. Babbling babies are practicing the sounds of their languages and laying the foundation for verbal expression. Explore Phonological Awareness (ECLKC) and learn about developmental progression and the effective practices that nurture language in children birth to age 5.
