Mars enters Pisces and Winter Solstice
Mars is about to enter into Pisces and I have noticed more and more posts on Facebook saying 'I feel helpless'. That's exactly the way I felt too, watching the horrifying scenes from Aleppo. I wanted to fling myself through the screen to hold the woman who had just lost all her children, to throw my body protectively across that of a tiny child who had already ceased to live, crushed by walls felled by bombs. There's a sickening sense of how pointless it all is and that each action is just a drop in an ocean of suffering. Meanwhile with Trump and Brexit ramping up issues such as racism and misogyny not to mention serious fears over climate change and a potential world war 3 (!), we can safely say that right now, it's difficult. This past year's Saturn square Neptune has certainly brought tears and an odd sense of living in some kind of weird virtual reality.
As we come to the darkest time of the year in the Northern Hemisphere, it's natural to feel in the dark. It's natural to wonder what will become of us. It's natural to feel like the light is never going to return. But the coming of Solstice reminds us that all is reborn. The light will return. Those small actions we take, to fight for humanity, to fight for justice, to fight for those who cannot fight for themselves, do have an effect. The effect is cumulative, like a gathering great wave washing the planet clean. Far from being helpless, we are an army of spiritual warriors. Mercury's retrograde action is giving pause for thought, a time to think seriously about what can be done and what we are capable of doing. All of us now need to stand strong with maturity and integrity and focus on employing practical means to create change.
Saturn's trine to Uranus on Christmas Day shows that whilst the atmosphere has felt heavy with loss and corruption (the latter stemming from the recent Jupiter-Pluto square), there is potential for positive change. The establishment (Saturn) now has an opportunity to implement new perspectives (Uranus). Cosmically speaking, we could say that society's software is getting an upgrade but it might take a little while to figure out how it all works.
Venus, planet of love and harmony is also going to trigger the Saturn-Uranus trine and at the same time she will trine jovial Jupiter. There are some feel good vibes being generated this holiday season, totally in tune with the theme of good will to all. Venus wants us to remember that whilst there is war and corruption, there is also beauty and extraordinary good in the world too. This week, it's about appreciating what we have and holding those we love a little tighter.
Wishing you joy in your festivities.
