A Very Successful Spring Social and AGM
We had over 40 attendees April 25th at our home course, Richmond Hill Golf Course. In attendance, experienced members, new ones, returnees, and guests. The energy in the room focused on the upcoming season, as we reviewed the valuable feedback from the 2014 survey, highlighted the golf events for weekends, premium Mondays, day ladies, and education.
We highlighted our goal to grow in number, as we provide women golfers with opportunities to golf at different courses, participate in competition (if interested), learn about golf etiquette, rules, pace of play, and foster friendliness and fun. Donna Norman (teaching pro at Richmond Hill) provided a lesson on keeping a good grip and Corey McCusker (mental performance coach) guided us on a method of focusing on the moment and visualize the “perfect” shots.
Thank you to our sponsors who attended and provided some door prizes, the early bird prize for registering for the event by April 15th was won by Sue Williamson. My kudos to all the board members who helped to organize the upcoming events, gold star to Julia Kwan & Jai Hoilett for the amazing updated website (transformed); and thank you Maria Szoke who coordinated venue and catering details.
Let’s start golfing and enjoying the EWGA way.
Opening Day for Thursday Night at Richmond Hill - May 7th
The first night for our Thursday night at our “Home” course, Richmond Hill is on May 7th with starting tee time at 4:30pm. The staff are looking forward to assisting us in making our golfing experience enjoyable. You can check our website www.ewga-gta.ca for any changes to the tee time. As a reminder, call ahead and book your tee times at least 3 days prior to play. This gives the course an idea of how many tee times to reserve to ensure everyone can get out and play.
Meet the Members – June 4th, 2015
Let’s enjoy the twilight by playing golf, have drink and a bit to eat afterward. This is great opportunity to connect with our membership and welcome the new members. It’s going to be FUN !!
Glen Abbey on May 9th is full!!!
The weekend events team is excited to share that our first weekend event has sold out in record time. We had 44 spaces available and they were snapped up in an instant. A mix of the great course, fantastic price point and everyone just pain itching to get onto the links combine to make the event special.
Our next event, Station Creek is scheduled for May 23rd - the weekend after the long weekend. Station Creek is another Clublink course that we have been able to secure for our members. But remember, to take advantage of this great offer, register early as space is limited.

Want to have even more fun on the course this Summer? Want to play on an equal playing field? Sign up for Match Play! Play to your best potential, not against someone. Match Play is about winning holes – many a match is won or lost by just a single putt. It's impossible to predict the outcome of Match Play since the playing field is equalized using handicaps. Match Play is a fun way to compete since one “blow-up hole” doesn’t mean you’re out of the match!

- Ability and commitment to:
- arrange, and play, your matches within the allotted timeframes (inability of a player to arrange a game, or to play a scheduled match, may result in forfeiture of that player)
- play at a rated course in the GTA (matches do not have to be played at our Member Course)
- play on the weekend since many of our members work (matches can be played during the week if acceptable to both players)
Every player is guaranteed 2 rounds of Match Play; after that, you continue playing Rounds until you lose a Round or you win in Round 5, whichever happens first!
