California Soil Health Network

Hello from Jeff!

It’s harvest time for so many of you folks out there, and I hope everything is going as well as it can be.  Harvest can be a stressful time, so please remember to stop and take a minute to breathe every once in a while.  But, as many of y’all know, having a good group of people around you to help out can make all the difference.

I get lots of help everywhere I go.  One of the best parts about my job is that I get to work with so many amazing people.  Most of the time, I’m working with other RCD folks, or folks from NRCS and UC Extension.  But I also have the pleasure of working with folks from schools and colleges, land trusts, and non-profit organizations such as Point Blue.  Jonathan, Land Conservation Tech from Sequoia Riverlands Trust, and Suzie, Point Blue Partner Biologist stationed in the NRCS Petaluma Field Office, recently assisted me with vegetation sampling in Tulare and Sonoma counties, respectively.  They were both very thorough and I certainly appreciate their hard work and attention to detail.

Back on the RCD front, the CARCD Annual Conference is coming up and it sounds like there will be some very interesting and intriguing presentations…including mine!  Yes, I will be presenting at the CARCD conference this year, and I will be sure to let all of you know the details in the next newsletter.  Until then, do your best to stay safe and sane during harvest, and (I hope to see all of you very soon, OR…) please remember to invite me to all of your end of harvest parties…hahaha! Thank you for reading!
       Best,
        Jeff

Our deep respect for the land and its harvest is the legacy of generations of farmers who put food on our tables, preserved our landscape, and inspired us with a powerful work ethic.
