New details for TAEBC annual meeting, March 26th

New details have been released for TAEBC’s annual meeting in Nashville. The meeting will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. CST on Thursday, March 26 at the Tennessee Tower in downtown Nashville. A happy hour in partnership with the Tennessee Energy Education Initiative will directly follow (location TBA).
Join us to discuss 2015 priorities and projects, including the first-ever Tennessee Advanced Energy Economic Impact Report. This is our annual forum for members and stakeholders to provide feedback on projects and priorities that foster the growth of Tennessee’s advanced energy jobs, companies and technologies.

Sustainable waste-to-energy facility approved for construction in Tennessee

PHG Energy and the city of Lebanon, Tennessee, have signed a contract that will provide an environmentally sustainable method of waste disposal while producing green power. The waste-to-energy technology will be up and running in early 2016. It is a downdraft gasification plant that will convert 64 tons of waste into fuel that will generate electricity. Energy Department’s Oak Ridge National Laboratory unveils crowdsourcing website for building technologies

The Energy Department launched the new Building Crowdsourcing Community website to help technology innovators collect, share, and evaluate input from customers and stakeholders about next-generation building technologies. This initiative is part of the Energy Department’s efforts to improve energy efficiency at a low cost in the United States. Read full story here.

ORNL signs agreement with Whirlpool Corp. to develop new energy-efficient refrigerator

Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Whirlpool Corporation are working together to design a refrigerator that could cut refrigerator energy usage by up to 40 percent. The goal is to make a next-generation energy-efficient refrigerator by using WISEMOTION, an innovative linear compressor, and other technologies and materials. Read news release here.
