Annual Meeting Highlights Growth of Advanced Energy Sector; Announces 2016 Initiatives

More than 30 members attended the Tennessee Advanced Energy Business Council’s annual meeting on February 10 in Nashville to hear about 2016 events, activities and initiatives. Members also learned about the growing strength of the state's advanced energy sector.
Ted Townsend, Chief of Staff for TNECD, gave an energizing presentation on advanced energy in Tennessee, reinforcing the important role TAEBC plays in economic development in the state. Advanced energy is a rapidly expanding and lucrative growth sector. Nearly 375,000 jobs are supported by the state’s advanced energy sector.

TAEBC board welcomes 2016 president, new members

Matt Kisber, CEO of Silicon Ranch Corporation, was appointed 2016 President. The board welcomed new members Jim DeMouy, VP of Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability with Bridgestone Americas; and Jeff Kanel, CEO, of Renewable Algal Energy. Read more here.  

TAEBC introduces member-hosted networking events

TAEBC is giving members an opportunity to sponsor and host small, networking events tailored to specific needs and subject matter. The first networking event will be hosted in May by TAEBC member, Genera Energy, a biomass company based in Vonore. More information, including dates, will be announced next month. New events calendar launches on TAEBC website

Stay up to date with TAEBC events through a new calendar on the website, designed to provide a quick and convenient way for members to access yearly activities and networking opportunities. The calendar provides several ways to view events. For more information, click here.

TAEBC begins production on advanced energy videos

Filming will begin soon on TAEBC videos, “This Is Advanced Energy” and “Inside Advanced Energy,” sponsored by Silicon Ranch and Strata-G. Designed to highlight advanced energy industries and entrepreneurs, the videos are anticipated to be a valuable resource for TAEBC to share, educate and inform. TAEBC forms sub-committee to guide TVA Distributed Generation-Information Exchange working group

TAEBC members, Schneider Electric, Balfour Beatty Investments, Hitachi and Silicon Ranch Corporation have joined in a sub-committee to help guide TVA’s Distributed Generation-Information Exchange working group.  The purpose of the group is to discuss broad issues around the implementation of TVA’s Integrated Resource Plan as it relates to distributed generation. Bridgestone, PPG receive DOE funds to develop fuel-efficient truck, bus tires

TAEBC member, Bridgestone Americas is participating in a $1.25 million U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) funded collaborative project with PPG to improve the efficiency of truck and bus radial tires. The goal is to deliver prototype tires to DOE that help trucks and buses achieve fuel-efficiency improvements. Read the full story here.
