Reflections Art Program - Opportunity for a Parent Passionate about the Arts to Lead this Committee

The National PTA Reflections Art program was established over 50 years ago with the mission of helping students explore their own thoughts, feelings and ideas, develop artistic literacy, increase confidence and find a love for learning that will help them become more successful in school and in life.

Each year, over 300,000 students in Pre-K through Grade 12 around the country create original works of art in response to a student-selected theme. Students submit their completed works of art in one or all of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts.

Student winners from the local level have the opportunity to move up through their district, region, council and state PTA programs to the national level. National Reflections winners are announced in May and celebrated annually at National PTA's Convention and Expo in June. National PTA then collects and curates the traveling exhibit for the next year.

Maercker PTA has never participated in this event in past, but PTA would like to open up this wonderful opportunity for our children to create art and compete for national honors.  National PTA has a school registration deadline of February 1, 2020, and in order for our children to be eligible to participate in this art program, we to designate a parent, or group of parents, to serve as our district program coordinator!

PTA will help every step of the way, we have all of the information and the process for running this program documented that we will walk you through. Additionally, we have a board member who already ran this program in another school district, and can help with implementation. To learn more about Reflections, visit National PTA's website.

Interested parents, please email Lesley Wright at, or please plan to attend the next PTA meeting either today, or on January 6th at 7 PM at Westview Hills for discussion.
