"I found my first mediation really interesting, I will look forward to the next. For certain shareholder disputes this offers a very sensible alternative to litigation." - Partner with large UK law firm
"Mediation was extremely helpful in allowing both of us to express things that we might otherwise have tried to bury, with a potentially poor outcome. Instead, we both came out of the meeting with very positive feelings and a sense of common purpose, having been able to clear the air of miscommunication and misinformation." - CEO of a major not for profit body

Two-day workshop with Hetty Einzig and Liz Rivers
24 and 25 October, Edinburgh
What they say:
"Thank you - it was an extremely valuable course to have attended. Good to be encouraged to look for inner resources rather than being bombarded with more reading. It was very welcoming, the teaching was clear and a good, inclusive atmosphere was created overall." - Participant from Core's fully-subscribed March Workshop
“I can’t recommend this course highly enough. It gave me time to think about me, my
business and my leadership – I left feeling completely inspired, re-invigorated and
raring to go.” - Rachael Mills, Director, SE2 Ltd
"This programme is a game-changer. The learning is exceptional -- from Liz, Hetty and everyone in the room -- and it sticks. At the end of just two intense days you leave in a much stronger position than you thought was possible when you started." - Liz Whitaker, Director, Condor Communications Ltd

The workshop is highly practical, combining precious space for reflection with focused action. Hetty and Liz are known for the high degree of trust they create, allowing you to “drop the mask” and be seen for who you really are, giving you the courage to show more of this out in the world. They show you how to embody this change so that it is lasting.

Core Reading - Hot off the Press
Across a range of jurisdictions, in differing legal systems, mediation is achieving ever-greater institutional and statutory force, and what not long ago was a marginal technique for dispute resolution is becoming mainstream and orthodox. But how firm a sense do we have about the social formation we call ‘mediation’? Through reflections and case histories, this distinctive collection of essays by experienced mediators from across the globe, including Core's John Sturrock, provides a clearer understanding than we have had heretofore of what mediation is and what it can offer as a practical, accessible and positive alternative in civil justice systems.
The authors each address ways mediation has been or can be applied to dispute resolution in such pressing contexts as the following:
- enduring and intense conflicts;
- planning and environmental issues;
- conflicts arising between refugee and ‘host’ communities;
- elder care;
- intercultural settings;
- online communication;
- science-based disputes; and
- public policy disputes.

Call for Role-players!
|
|
Our Summer/Autumn flagship course is now underway and we are approaching Module 2 and our assessment stage for the present course. On these modules, we often enlist the help of role players to participate in the case studies. This is an excellent insight into mediation and a great networking opportunity. The roles are well suited for post-qualified professionals.
Dates:
- Thursday, 27 October 2016
- Friday, 28 October 2016
- Thursday, 3 November 2016
- Friday, 4 November 2016
If you would be interested in role playing, please do let Miriam know if you can help by email or calling 0131 524 8188. The modules will be taking place in Central Edinburgh.
