From Hungary to Hawaii

Robotic Spacecraft Lands on the Big Island

Team Puli, an official Google Lunar X Prize (GLXP) contestant from Hungary, just flew into Hilo late last night and their baggage includes a robotic spacecraft!

Team Puli will make their first public appearance TOMORROW at the `Imiloa Astronomy Center. Come see their robot in action! The community will even have an opportunity to test drive it.

WHO: PISCES & Team Puli
WHERE: Imiloa - Front Lawn
DATE: FRIDAY DEC 6
TIME: 9a - 12:30p

WHY HAWAII?

The Pacific International Space Center for Exploration Systems, or PISCES, is hosting Team Puli - an official contestant vying for the $30 MILLION Google Lunar X Prize. Whoever can successfully launch and land a robotic spacecraft on the Moon and drive it 5000 meters while transmitting HD images and video back to Earth…wins.

In preparation for their shot at the Moon, Team Puli will test their rover at our site on the Big Island. PISCES and Team Puli are eager to share their journey with the community, so during their stay, they will be making themselves available to the public, starting with this outreach event at Imiloa.

WHY IS GOOGLE SPONSORING THIS INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION & PUTTING UP SO MUCH PRIZE MONEY?

The movie “Back to the Moon for Good” explains it all, and by pure coincidence, ʻImiloa happens to be showing it at their full dome digital Planetarium! Showtime is 3 pm, after Team Puli's debut.

Educators/Administrators/Faculty: This Team Puli/GLXP Movie combo would make for a valuable STEM experience!

Mahalo to `Imiloa for making this event possible and a warm welcome and aloha to Team Puli!
