Footings are being dug!  Praise God!
Greetings from Liberia!

January has been a very full month.  With negotiations for materials, laborers, transportation and housing on site, there has been a great deal of work done.  By God’s grace construction has started!!  We have begun digging the well and the dirt for molding the CEB already.

  1. Digging of the well (funded by Hope 2 Liberia)
  2. Digging of the foundation footing.
  3. Pouring of the footing
  4. Molding the foundation block.
  5. Laying the foundation.
  6. Pouring of the flooring slab with rough-in plumbing.
  7. Molding of the compressed earth block for the walls of the gathering center and future construction.
Chief component of CEB (Compressed Earth Block)?  Earth! Or in the common vernacular – dirt! 220 m3 of it!  This picture represents about 1/3 of what is needed. You can see the machine that will do this at

Twelve different times in the month Ken either taught a class, led a workshop/seminar or preached at area churches.  A very busy and exhausting schedule with preparation, etc.  It has been an honor to encourage church leaders and new converts as they wrestle with what scripture has to say about leadership and Christian living.
One of the big uses of the Gathering Center will be to gather church leaders for training, encouragement and resource sharing.  Our multiple visits to the compound helps us realize how significant of an impact this could be for the kingdom growing in that area.
"Iron Sharpens Iron" group of church leaders.  We spent two days together studying what we could learn from Nehemiah’s life regarding leadership.

One of the major challenges of the month was when Carolyn was struck and knocked down by a motorbike.  By God’s grace, her injuries were bruises, abrasions, muscle strain and lacerations.  Nothing broken! No head injury!  The doctor still said it would be 6 to 8 weeks to recover.  She has been taking it easy and doing the prescribed stretches.  Little by little, she is improving.  We thank God for all of the prayers.
Members of the Buchanan Church of Christ (where the Deaf School meets) came by to pray for Carolyn after her injury.
As always, we need and appreciate your prayers.  Specific prayer items are listed to the right.

We need your help.  Are you willing and able to share in the ongoing construction costs of the Gathering Center?  We have enough to get this 10,000 ft2 ministry center started – footing, foundation, slab and block molding. Will you help us keep the construction going? Your $15 gift will build 1 ft2.  Any amount will help. $25,000 has been given so far. Another $125,000 will complete the project.

Even more than that, begin praying for the lives that will be touched to bring Him glory!!  Thank you for your prayers and help!
