This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. 10 This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God. 1 John 4:9–10 (The Message)

Greetings in the name of the One who is LOVE!

Being back in Liberia now for over a month has kept us very busy getting two main projects going.  We are blessed to share in God’s love to His glory.

Realizing that there are no clinics with significant medications available was one of the motivating factors to establish Fair Shake Village Mobile Clinic.  By God’s grace, after months, and even years, of planning and preparation, the first day of clinic was held February 12th.  Although the first day was a slow one, we were glad as it helped us work out some of the bugs in making accountability and accuracy an ongoing reality.  We have been blessed in serving in this way and are already beginning to see the hope that God provides through this ministry.  Each session begins with devotions and prayer.  Each person is ministered to in a loving and affirming way.  It is always great to participate in ministry like that!!!  Thank you so much to those of you who made this start possible and sustain it with your prayers and love!!
This is the crew that made the beginning of Fair Shake Village Mobile Clinic possible. A very evident need in the community.

Work has continued with the first four classrooms.  There was some serious foundation correction that needed to be done before the first floor was poured.  Walls are going up!!  We are praying that we will get to see the second floor poured before we go.  It will be an amazing gift to see that happen! Getting materials seems always to be the largest problem.  It’s not the manufactured materials so much, but the natural materials (bamboo, round poles, form grade lumber [called wahwah], sand and rock) are a challenge mostly because of transportation.  Anyway, real progress has been made.  We pray the finances will be enough to keep construction going while we are gone so that classrooms will be ready when school starts in August when we return.
Our first estimate for the completion of these four classrooms was $40,000.  Some additional, un-estimated expenses came up, so it looks like it will be closer to $45,000 for completion.  The good news is that about 70% of that money is in place.  Again, we see God providing through those willing and able to share in this work.  We are indeed blessed and regularly experience His love!!
The original foundation needed some serious correction to have a solid start...
....but now the walls are going up!!!  Look at this happy crew.  Really a great group of guys!
Speaking of love and blessings, one of the reasons Carolyn and I are making two trips this year and having a shorter trip the early part of this year is that our 50th anniversary is in March.  We look forward to celebrating with our kids soon after we return.  It is hard to imagine that 50 years have past since God gave us this great gift.  I have seen God do things in and through us that I don’t believe I would have ever considered on my own.  Marriage brings that special gift and I am so glad God put Carolyn in my life and kept her with me these 50 years.  We are greatly blessed!!! And greatly loved!!!

Because of His great love!!
