'Doyntj Doyntj - Come Together'

Registrations are open for the WALGA Aboriginal Forum on Wednesday, 22 September.
WALGA invites you to attend our annual Aboriginal Engagement and Reconciliation Forum, this year themed ‘Doyntj Doyntj – Come Together’.  Please join us at the Swan River Nyoongar Boodja, our meeting place for a day of learning and celebration of the positive work occurring between Local Governments and their Aboriginal communities.

The Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, the Hon Stephen Dawson MLC, will provide the opening address on State Government policy developments and partnership opportunities with Aboriginal people.

Cost:     $140 (Incl GST) Local Government and community organisations
              $160 (Incl GST) State Government and corporate organisations

The forum aims to assist Local Governments to develop strong, ongoing relationships with local Aboriginal communities that recognise our shared cultural heritage, create opportunities for Aboriginal empowerment, and celebrate successes. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in panel discussions and a round-table yarn with Aboriginal elders and leaders.
The morning session will feature Local Government case studies that highlight best practice in:
  • Aboriginal engagement methods
  • Aboriginal place naming and truth telling
  • Aboriginal employment and mentorship programs
  • Addressing racism and cultural safety
The afternoon session will offer a choice of three concurrent sessions:
  • Stream 1 Celebrate:  Aboriginal landcare and thriving culture
  • Stream 2 Inspire:  Reconciliation Action Planning
  • Stream 3 Motivate:  Closing the Gap
