LG Focus: Craving for Compost

City of Fremantle and Town of East Fremantle residents have developed an appetite for closing the loop on food waste.

Food and garden organics from the Southern Metropolitan Regional Council are blended into retail garden products, containing up to 30% FOGO derived material. A trial pallet, comprising 84 bags of garden compost, recently went on sale at the Fremantle Recycling Centre and was sold out in just one weekend.

Residents were delighted to see how the contents of their FOGO bins were being used, with requests for more of the product to be made available. Another two pallets are expected to arrive soon at the Fremantle Recycling Centre.

Head over to the Fremantle Recycling Centre to get your hands on these much sought-after garden goodies, or contact the City of Fremantle for more information on where else these bags of garden compost are available.

LG Focus: Up for Adoption

The City of Melville has decommissioned a number of bin surrounds that are ready for a new lease of life.

There are nine sloped-roof bin surrounds and one curved-roof bin surround complete with a concrete slab looking to be rehomed. Other than a fresh lick of paint and a cobweb removal ceremony, they will be a great alternative to buying new.

If you can make use of these bin surrounds, please contact the City of Melville and ask to speak with Paul Molony, Manager Resource Recovery & Waste.

The Monster has been revealed!

Containers for Change has launched its new marketing campaign that’s focused on driving behaviour change.

The Container Deposit Scheme has been off to a great start since it began in October 2020, however at least four out of ten drink containers are still going landfill.

Armed with a new WA born-and-bred marketing campaign the Scheme is aiming to increase participation and get containers out of landfill by building a sense of connection to a local issue and motivating individuals within the community to take action.

See how Containers for Change are recruiting recycling renegades for their container collecting crusade. A change for containers is here.
