Here's what's happening this week at the Cathedral

Hello Amity friends,
So good to be writing this to you on such a beautiful day!
This last Sunday, we looked at Christ's call for disciples. This coming Sunday we are going to look at how Jesus sends out 72 of them to embody the Kingdom of God throughout the land!
I want to invite you to read Luke 10:1-11, 16-20. As you do, put yourselves in the shoes of the disciples being sent out! What would it feel like to be sent with no wallet, no bag for your stuff, no sandals? What does it make you think about when Jesus says, "eat whatever is set before you?" What do you think this kind of hospitality would look like in our world today? Are there examples you can think of? Lastly, why? Why was Jesus sending them all out like this?
We are going to look at this passage together on Sunday, so as you answer these questions yourselves, be pondering what it might mean for the church as a whole today.
I am so looking forward to being with you, in person or online, this coming Sunday. Know I am praying for all of you and I care about each one of you.
Bless you!

UMC Resources As we all know the topic of abortion has been contentious for most of the last fifty years and too often the issues have been framed by extremes. However, extreme rhetoric cannot begin to address the complex middle where we actually live our lives. The UMC has a nuanced position on abortion that we believe is more suited to the complexity of the issue.
