Farmers Markets are Essential
The Tulsa Farmers' Market joins markets across the country in celebrating National Farmers Market Week from August 2-8, 2020. Out of an abundance of caution, we will not be hosting any in person celebration at our markets, but we will be offering TFM Kids' Club grab bags full of coloring pages & games to be enjoyed at home! We will also be hosting a fun photo campaign for our market goers- Shop the market, snap a pic at the market, and/or a pic of your local bounty from the market, and post it on IG or FB with the hashtag #NFMWtulsa2020 All submissions will be automatically entered into a raffle for a framed 2020 market poster, TFM t-shirt, and other market swag! We want to see how YOU see and experience the Tulsa Farmers' Market!
In the midst of a global pandemic, farmers markets — like all other small businesses — have been scrambling to continue operations for the farmers and communities that depend on them. When conventional food supply chains failed at the start of the pandemic, farmers markets and local food systems clearly displayed the resiliency of short supply chains and interest in local foods spiked nationwide. National Farmers Market Week offers us an important opportunity to showcase the impacts of markets to customers, communities, local officials, and legislators and highlight farmers markets as essential businesses.
Creating awareness and generating support is of exceptional importance this year as the Tulsa Farmers' Market is unable to host any of the fundraising events that it financially depends on to keep the market and its various community projects going. So in honor of National Farmers Market Week, we humbly ask for your support and contributions to help us bridge our fundraising gap in this WILD and unpredictable year. Any amount is greatly appreciated! Click here to donate.
Thank you for the years of support, Tulsa! And don't forget to come see us this Saturday in Kendall Whittier!
Our Safety Plan has been approved by the Tulsa Health Department.
We are focused on being vigilant about the safety of our customers and vendors. We are taking some extra precautions so things might seem a bit different than usual, but it's sincerely for your safety & comfort!
Here's what you can expect:
You can view our full THD approved safety plan here.
- Market will be SPACIOUS. Each vendor will have a minimum of 10 ft between them & their neighbor.
- The first hour of market (7am-8am) is designated for high-risk individuals, please respect our vulnerable shoppers and avoid this hour if you do not fall into this category
- Vendors & customers are required to wear a face-covering while at market
- Vendors & customers who are feeling unwell should stay home
- Sanitizer will be available at every booth
- Entertainment booths have been temporarily suspended
- Vendors & Customers are to practice social distancing
- Tokens will be distributed at our Token Booth, however, some vendors may be doing card only or exact cash-only transactions, FYI.
Needless to say, safety is no accident at the Tulsa Farmers' Market!
New Market Accessories Now Available!
2020 has forced us to think outside the box for our fundraising efforts. Though we aren't able to host any events outside our regular market, we now have an excellent selection of Market accessories available at our token booth! Proceeds go to support TFM so we can continue to connect Tulsans with local food for many years to come! We are excited to now offer African Market Baskets & hats as well as tees, bags, stickers, & buttons featuring our newest design from Mythic Press. We also have most of our previous designs available, and don't forget about our bandanas - they are perfect to keep you safe in these strange times!
