Teachers, students, and families came together for the first Family Learning Night at South Middle School. Parents and students met with teachers to learn strategies that could be used at home to help with writing, literacy, math, and science. It is wonderful to see the school and families working together towards their common academic goals. Great job South Middle School!

Aurora School Board Members, Families, Students, Teachers, and Community Partners Come Together
Families, students, school staff, community partners, district officials, and the APS Board of Directors all gathered together at a RISE Parent Leader event on Saturday, January 20th to discuss how to improve interpretation and translation services in the district. Families, students, and teachers shared their testimonies with the APS Board of Directors while district officials shared the measures it has taken thus far. This is a huge step in making sure that all families are able to communicate with school and district staff in order to support their children's education and effectively advocate for them. It's wonderful to see the collaboration and amazing how much can be accomplished working together!

Denver Foundation Common Sense
Discipline & Learning Cohort
RISE Colorado's School Partner Specialists, Angele and Anne, teamed up to deliver a presentation on Power, Privilege and Intersectionality at the Denver Foundation Common Sense Discipline Cohort meeting in APS. The room was filled with APS district officials, school leaders from over ten APS schools, and community partners. Audience members worked through their teaching styles and personalities to discover their own biases in the classroom. We're proud to be advancing the critical work of educational equity which can't happen without conversations and deep work around race, class, power, and privilege. The presentation was very powerful!
