We want to take the time this month to honor and celebrate the life of Jody Ketchum Briola. Jody was an administrator at our partner school Jamaica Child Development Center. We learned so much from her during our work together putting on incredible workshops for families. Jody was a RISE champion from day one and always told us that we were going to change the world and should never give up. Words can't express how much Jody's support early on meant to us. She was a passionate educator that cared deeply for students and families. Thank you Jody for your love, laughter, and support. You will be missed but never forgotten!
Here is Jody Ketchum Briola speaking about her passion for education and family engagement in this short video. Click image above to watch the video.
The RISE Team enjoyed our first, bi-annual Staff Retreat this month! Taking the time to keep our team connected is a huge priority for Co-CEOs, Veronica and Milagros. By building a strong team and an intentional team culture we ensure that we we have the support and tools we need to sustain in this work of educating, engaging, and empowering families to RISE as change agents for educational equity. We spent time getting to know each other personally and professionally through team outings, culture builders, and professional development sessions. There is so much love in our RISE family and we bring this to our work each and every day!
Partnership with the University of Denver
RISE Colorado is so excited to continue our partnership with University of Denver's Morgridge College of Education Graduate Students in Higher Education through their Issues of College Access Course. We welcome four volunteers that will be with us for the next 20 weeks getting to know the Aurora community and supporting RISE's goals for this school year. Make sure to say, "Hello!" to these new faces when you see them at our upcoming events.
