Charlottesville
RISE Colorado stands behind all families of color, especially those in Charlottesville, VA. We condemn racism and bigotry. Racism compromises everyone’s humanity, especially people of color. RISE does this work because it is careless and dangerous to ignore race, class, and privilege. Honest and equitable discussions on race, class, and privilege must be at the forefront of every social justice movement. We will continue to organize for educational and social equity.
Back to School
RISE Colorado is excited to welcome back Jamaica Child Development Center and New Legacy Charter School for another year! We are just as thrilled to welcome three new partner schools, Park Lane Elementary, Vega Collegiate Academy, and South Middle School!

We wish the best of luck to the teachers and staff of APS schools as they gear up for another school year. We have had welcome back sessions with all our partner schools and are excited for the great work teachers are already doing to make sure their students are successful.

RISE School Partner Specialists are off to a great start as they take teachers and school staff through our Asset Mapping workshop! Teachers were able to learn about all the amazing resources and assets that are in the Aurora community to help our students be successful.
APS Kick-Off Event
Team RISE was super excited to be at the APS Kick-Off event at the Aurora Mall. Parents and students were excited to be going back to school and RISE Colorado is here to make sure students, parents, teachers, and school staff have the resources they need for a successful year!
Activities and Celebrations
The RISE team was fortunate to have the opportunity to hear the encouraging words of Former First Lady, Michelle Obama, at the Pepsi Center. In an amazing event put on by the Women's Foundation of Colorado, Michelle spoke to the crowd on women's issues and her experiences. She has inspired us and so many others to continue with our meaningful work. Thank you to Rose Community Foundation for making this evening possible!

Team RISE and our families enjoyed a day of relationship building and fun in the sun at Lakeside Amusement Park for our first annual RISE Team and Family Picnic. We all became kids again as we overcame our fears of roller coasters and dropping from great heights. Spending a day with this team is always a blast!

RISE congratulates Angele, Lah Gay Moo, and Anne on completing one year of service on the RISE team! All three of you have been integral to RISE’s mission to Educate, Engage, and Empower low-income families and families of color to RISE as change agents for educational equity in our public school system. Great job and we're so thankful to have you all as part of our RISE team and family. Thank you for all you are and do!
RISE in the News
Virtual Venture Summit
RISE CEO, Veronica, gave a keynote speech on the RISE Theory of Change at the inaugural Virtual Venture Summit hosted by Leadership for Educational Equity. The topics of discussion included looking at the educational equity landscape and Veronica's personal experience and participation in the Venture Fund and Fellowship program. We are sure that the rest of the Summit was a success and are excited to have been included!
America Divided Dialogue
The Community Resource Center hosted a screening of America Divided at the Open Media Foundation. After watching the episode "The Class Divide", which focused on educational inequality, RISE team members, Anne and Angele, led a discussion on how race, ethnicity, and economic class affect the quality of education students receive. Open discussion is the first step to closing the educational divide that exists in our country. Watch the full panel discussion here!

You can learn more about the Denver Open Media Foundation at Openmediafoundation.org or join them for a tour any 1st or 3rd Wednesday of the month at 5:30pm located at 700 Kalamath St., Denver, CO 80204.
