The RISE Colorado team had a great time participating at the APS Back to School Kickoff! Our team enjoyed meeting APS families, giving away school gear and books to students, and creating connections with other organizations dedicated to helping APS students. We hope everyone has a great 2019-2020 school year!
Workshop and Coalition Updates
Workshops are up and running! The Nepali/Bhutanese Community had their Parent Opportunity Gap, Navigating the School System, and Organizing 101 workshops. Our African/African American Coalition and Southeast Asian Coalitions have begun their meetings. We are excited to see how the Southeast Asian and African/African American Coalitions will grow in the coming school year.
Additionally, our Director of Community Organizing organized over 30 community members to collect survey results for Aurora for Aurora. The survey identifies parents’ hopes and dreams for their child’s education and future. We collected over 800 surveys; Northwest Aurora in particular had excellent representation.
