#30 - Celebrating Small Wins
This week I look at another practice for shaping the life I want. I call it celebrating the small wins. Seems to me I tend to wait until I’ve reached a big goal to celebrate. I notice most of my clients fall into the same pattern: They forget to celebrate the small wins as they go along, and wait for a big victory to rejoice. But why save the party for the end?
I thought I would start the celebration by offering three examples of things to celebrate that may speak to you.
1. Did you keep a promise to yourself this week? I kept a promise I made of starting a regular meditation practice and I experienced insights I may not have experienced otherwise. That’s surely cause for celebration!
2. Do you notice small movements around you? Maybe it’s the extra minutes of light at the end of the day, or the plants blooming in your home or office. Surely a cause for celebration!
3. Are you able to spend time with people you love and appreciate? I am celebrating my mother’s recovery from illness, and the time I am able to spend with her. Who can you connect with and how can you celebrate that connection?
So consider celebrating a small victory or a baby step you consider progress. Maybe it’s something you’ve been putting off for a while and finally started. The big finale may still be years away, so gloriously celebrate a win this week, and every week. The more you do it, the more wins you’ll find to celebrate.
Remember, no win is too small. Let me know about the wins you're celebrating this week!
