Graham Harman, The Future of Continental Realism: Heidegger’ s Fourfold
Chiasma: A site for Thought, Vol. 3, The Ends of Philosophy

"It seems to me that Lee Braver is correct when he argues, in A Thing of This World, that Continental philosophy has been primarily an anti-realist school from the start. We differ only in that Braver heaps praise on this anti-realism, while I view it as an intellectual catastrophe. In any case, an alternative Continental philosophy has begun to emerge, in the shape of at least three major realist approaches in Continental thought in the twenty-first century: 1. The New Realism led by the Italian ex-relativist Maurizio Ferraris and the prolific German Wunderkind Markus Gabriel. Given that Ferraris’s own realist turn dates as far back as the early 1990s, he may deserve the title of the first blatantly realist philosopher of the Continental tradition. He also paid a heavy price for this, since it put a heavy and permane..." Keep reading

Tiziana Andina, An Ontology for Social Reality
Palgrave Macmillan, London-New York, 2016

Website | Flyer
This book explores the complex domain of social reality, asking what this reality is, how it is composed and what its dynamics are in both theoretical and practical terms. Through the examination of some of the most important contemporary theories of social ontology, the book discusses the fundamentals of the discipline and lays the foundations for its development in the political sphere. By analyzing the notion of State and the redesign of ontology, the author argues in favor of a realist conception of the State and shows the reasons why this promotes a better understanding of the dynamics of power and the actualization of a greater justice between generations. This book captures the relationship between different generations within the same political context, and presents it as a necessary condition for the re-definition of the concepts of State and meta-State.

Maurizio Ferraris presenta Emergenza
Udine, 25 settembre

Libreria Feltrinelli, via Canciani 15, ore 11.00
Introduce e modera Luca Taddio

ANIMOT. L'ALTRA FILOSOFIA
Website
CFP Animot 7, June 2017
Call for papers: Das Animal
Deadline for submission: March 2017

«Das Animal» is devoted to the relationship between Marxist theory, antispeciesism and philosophy of the animality. Is it possible to study the modes of capitalist production detaching them from the analysis of the uncontrolled exploitation of human and non-human forms of life? Environmentalism could then be the starting point for reframing the class struggle nowadays? From the food industry to intensive agriculture, from garment production to cosmetic products, all living creatures are subject to an unstoppable process of expropriation. This issue of Animot will delve into the relations between capitalism and the exploitation of the biosphere (Anthropocene) laying premises for a “wild revolution.” We will accept contributions, starting form the above mentioned topics, from the following areas of research: Marxist theory, finance, food industry, supply chains, animal and resources exploitation, ecology and environmentalism, alternative development models.
