LA Spotlight: Cindy Phenix at Nino Mier Gallery

Particles of Abnormality is an exhibition by Chicago based Cindy Phenix. In the main gallery space, she bombards viewers with large paintings cluttered with fragmented figures, snippets of buildings and colorful abstract shapes that reference aspects of a natural landscape. In a smaller gallery a few doors down the block, she creates an installation that entices viewers through a labyrinth of monsters painted onto full sheets of drywall. ArtOpps of the Week: Amant Residency NY 2021-2022

Amant is seeking applications from artists working in a wide range of disciplines for its international residency program in New York, open to both emerging artists and from artists with professional standing in their field. In addition to individual studios, a communal area and outdoor space and return economy flights and airport transfers to NY, the residency offers a monthly stipend of $3,000.00 to offset the costs of accommodation, transport and day-to-day expenses.

Online Art Events Roundup

Our roundup of online events this week includes an exhibition that takes place in space (imaginary outer space, not virtual). Plicnik Space Initiative proposes an exhibition aboard the D02.2 spacecraft that showcases artworks that challenge the functionalities of institutional practices. Also worth seeing is Forms Fired, a presentation of over 45 small sculptures in clay by 18 creators. And for new online events opening this week, see Peer to Peer: UK/HK, an online exhibition of inspiring exchange between the UK and Hong Kong, and You Are Here, showcasing 50 artists from around the world on the theme of maps and mapping.

Have your own online event that you want the world to see? List them here now.
