ArtOpps of the Week: 2021 HBI Artist Program

The 2021 HBI Artist Program seeks proposals for new or existing work that can prominently occupy a digital or remote format, including innovative forms of presentation and implementations that allow remote audience participation.   Online Event of the Week

Ai Weiwei at the Royal Academy was the groundbreaking cultural phenomenon of 2015. This immersive digital tour is a chance to revisit the exhibition or experience it for the first time online. For more art online, head to ArtRabbit.

  London Art Spotlight

The first-ever UK exhibition by Nigerian-American artist Toyin Ojih Odutola, this epic cycle of new work at Barbican Centre will explore an imagined ancient myth, continuing her constructions of speculative fictions. For more art events and exhibitions to see in London, head to ArtRabbit.

UK Art Pick of the Week

Originally inspired by cuneiform-inscribed clay tablets (an early system of writing dating from 2500BC), Jonathan Baldock's Facecrime at the Bluecoat in Liverpool explores the potential of clay to create communication tools that still connect with us today. For more art events and exhibitions happening in the UK, head to ArtRabbit.

  Berlin Art Spotlight

Through her use of familiar historical motifs from culture, art, and photography, Francesca Woodman explores women’s numerous roles—the ingénue, the beauty, the seductress, but also the universal feminine as a medium for spiritualism and art. See her exhibition, On Being an Angel, at C/O Berlin. For more art to see in Berlin, head to ArtRabbit.

  New York Art Spotlight

See Serena Stevens' paintings of intimate spaces and nondescript objects of everyday life in Iowa Dream at Postmasters Gallery: her studio, her bedroom, her garden, a shower curtain, a desk, a stack of suitcases, a disheveled bed taken over by a cat. For more art exhibitions and openings in New York, head to ArtRabbit.

  LA Pick of the Week

New Poems ft. Chimes at In Lieu is an exhibition of new paintings and drawings by Los Angeles artist Kayla Ephros, also featuring new wind chime sculptures by Ephros' close friend and collaborator, Livia Charman. For more art exhibitions and openings in Los Angeles, head to ArtRabbit.

  Spotlight: Works on Paper

Just opened: Drawn to Carbon at Graham Hunter Gallery presents a selection of drawings that reveal the medium's deceptive simplicity, revealing the practice of making marks on paper as an archetypal expression that continues to construct visual culture. See the works in person or join in a Zoom event to meet the artists on August 20.

  Artist Opportunities
